How this jewelry store stays in business is beyond me. There are several jewelry stores in our local shopping mall, including Zales, Kay Jewelers, Sears, JC Penney and several kiosks, so I imagine the competition is stiff. My husband and I walked into Elegant Jewelers while shopping one evening. There were several rings which caught my eye. Now, I am quite overweight so I wear a larger sized ring. A very nice young man waited on us and showed us several rings but they were all too small. He wasn't sure when I asked him if the rings could be ordered in a larger size or sized up so he asked one of his supervisors. I kid you not, she stuck her nose up in the air, said, "Absolutely not." and walked away. She was so obviously offensive that the young man waiting on us (who himself was quite chubby) blushed and apologized over and over. I may be overweight, but I do love and buy a lot of jewelry and her rudeness was one big mistake. I haven't stepped foot in this store since.

My sister-in-law used Neal's Computer Services to fix her computer. The owner (I believe his name is Neal) came to her home and worked on her computer in order to diagnose the problem. If he'd been able to, he would have fixed it right then and there; however, he decided that he needed to take it back to his home to fix it. (He works out of his home.) My sister-in-law was nervous at first that it might take a while to get her computer fixed and returned but she had it back within the week. Apparently the repair was expertly done as she hasn't had anymore problems with her computer. Based on what she had to say (and she can be very hard to please), I would not hesitate to recommend Neal's Computer Services.

I first began shopping at the Reminisce Shop when it was located in downtown Sebring on the historic circle. It has moved to the southern part of the city in a more isolated area which is harder to get to so I haven't been to this shop as much. There is still the same great variety of merchandise, however. As with many antiques and collectibles shops, this one has a little bit of everything and you never know what you'll find there. It can be so much fun to browse. I regretfully must say that her prices tend to be a little high and she isn't as flexible with her prices as many shops are. I think this may be because she sells on eBay and feels she can get her price there so why sell for less, which I can understand from her point of view.

Because the medical care in our small community is so horrendous, my husband and I choose to drive 75 miles (one way/150 miles round trip) to Watson Clinic in Lakeland. Thankfully, neither of us have any major medical problem or the monotonous drive would probably cause us to move to Lakeland. Founded in 1941, Watson Clinic claims to be one of the most renowned and largest medical clinics in the southeast. The clinic has grown to ten locations and they have about 170 physicians. It seems like there is a doctor in just about every specialty but podiatry. In the 20+ years we've been going to Watson Clinic, we have seen a lot of doctors. While I can't say I've liked or thought everyone of them was good, there have only been a couple that I didn't like for one reason or another. I also have to say their Urgent Care department needs a lot of help to be more efficient. Count on waiting a couple of hours before being seen by a doctor. Otherwise, I think Watson Clinic is an excellent choice for your medical needs.

Michael's is an elegant, expensive restaurant in the Spring Lake subdivision of Sebring. We've been there twice. Once for a special anniversary dinner celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. The food was perfectly prepared and we enjoyed every bite. My husband ordered an alligator tail appetizer and it was the first time either of us had ever eaten gator tail. He loved it, I thought it was okay. The service wasn't quite what we expected from such a highly rated restaurant, however.
The second time we went to Michael's was for a New Year's Eve celebration. They were hosting a charity Las Vegas night. We had a wonderful time that night, too.

Tony's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria used to be located in downtown Sebring, just off the Circle and across from the Jacaranda Hotel. Tony then moved his family and his business to Tampa. Fortunately, he returned to Sebring a couple of years ago and opened another restaurant in the southern part of Sebring. This restaurant is small but still comfortable. The food is still totally scrumptious! My husband does have one complaint, though. He wishes the servings at Tony's were bigger. Otherwise, the food is perfect!

Although Norma Jean's looks a bit rough from the outside, the food served there outweighs the rustic atmosphere. When in season, the oysters are fresh and delicious. Norma Jean's is a favorite with many of the locals, which is always a sign there's good food being served up there. It definitely pulls in an often-rowdy, drinking crowd.

We were really happy when Ruby Tuesday opened a restaurant locally but quite saddened when it burned down about a year later. After too many months and lots of back-breaking work, they reopened. By the time they reopened, Ruby Tuesday had a new menu. One of the problems we have with the new menu is that so many of the offerings are too spicy for us. They no longer offer the huge one-pound loaded baked potatoes and my husband really misses those. I still love the salad bar and think it is the best one in the county. My husband will often begin his meal with an appetizer of cheesy spinach dip. My favorite meal is the Church Street Chicken served with steamed broccoli and sautéed mushrooms. This entire delicious meal is only about 5 grams of carbohydrates! Since the current menu doesn't give us as many choices as before, we don't eat here as often but when we do, the service is usually very good and the food we order is always prepared well. If we ever do run into a problem here, the management always does a good job to make us happy.

The Worden family has lived in Avon Park for several generations and have owned Worden Realty since before we moved to Avon Park in 1987. I don't think anyone knows the Avon Park area any better than this hometown real estate family. Not only do they know the area, but they'll work hard to help you find the house that meets your needs. The folks who work in this office are very friendly, too.
