Chickpea is a great little place to hang out and eat great food! It's not very expensive and you can have falefel, shawarma, or their invention - the shawafel - and combination of falafel and shawarma. Everything is good! And they bake their own pita - so it's fresh and warm. There's seating like a counter along the front and then in the back there's a seating area for about 12 people at little tables. It's right near the Astor Place subway stop and it's always open!

Ali Baba is really good for shawarma or falafel in a pita - and the prices are good too. The place is tiny - there's room for seating of no more than 8 people - and there's a teeny place to place your order right next to the place where the guy assembles your pita. You can request all the stuff you want in it - which is visible to you from behind the counter. It's a really good place to have some cheap but delicious turkey shawarma and humus on a warm pita.

Located right across the street from the world famous Key West, The Westmont Apartments are a luxurious place to live for many young singles on the upper west side. There is a full service doorman and elevator and the apartments are very nice and well situated. The prices are not inexpensive, but are pretty standard for what is expected in that area given the full service amenities found there. It's a nice place to live - I don't know anyone who's been disappointed

The Key West is a very popular building on the upper west side. It is located on Columbus at 97th street and is very close to lots of stores and restaurants. There is a doorman on duty all the time and there are at least two elevators that I'm aware of. The apartments are pretty spacious and have nice light exposure. It's a fine place to live with pretty convenient access to the subway - either the 1, 2, and 3 on Broadway or the Columbus Avenue line.

The Columbia and Barnard Club is located within the Princeton Club and like most university clubs in the city is a rather stuffy place for more mature audiences. There are dinners and lectures for adults and members can host private events there as well. Membership is pretty expensive and I image that the members are mostly people who graduated more than 20 years earlier.

The Carnegie Hill Place opened about three years ago and is a beautifully constructed complex. The apartments range from studios at about 1800 and up - with regular studios and alcove studios. The building is beautiful: granite and marble accents and an elegant lobby. There is a doorman and elevator with a healthclub on the roof. The apartments all have marble kitchens and baths. It's a really nice place to live!

The Monterey is on the corner of Third Avenue and 96th Street and is perfectly situated for all the restaurants and stores along Third Avenue in the high 80s and low 90s. The building is very large and round and has some very cool apartments that have round rooms and window fronts. It is right across the street from Gristedes and Blockbuster and only a block from the subway. There is an elevator and doorman. I'm not sure what the prices are, but I don't imagine that they are inexpensive.

The Normandie Court complex is a huge place with hundreds of apartments. The prices for 1 BR start at about 2000 and studios are a bit lower than that. The apartments are spacious. There are several buildings in the complex, all with doormen and elevators. There is a fitness center that you can join for a good price if you're a resident. It's a great place to live if you want to be on the UES and have all the amenities of a full service building.

You've seen the Schleppers all around town. They're the bright orange truck with the white sign that says "Schelppers." When you hire them, you might expect a bunch of big brawny men, but they're small guys and they don't seem like they can do a lot - but they can! They are friendly and do a great job of moving everything neatly and quickly. They accidentally broke a small object but payed us for the item (and more than it originally cost). I would definitely hire them again!

Pommes Frites Authentic Belgian Fries are served in a paper cone and can be eaten with any of a zillion topics including 20 different kinds of ketchup. Perhaps the most complimentary statement about these fries is that they don't need any condiments at all! But if yu're feeling adventurous, you can try all the different toppings this place has to offer. Who wouldn't love fries from a place that serves only fries?
