The John Wayne Airport is actually pretty nice when it comes to airports. The bathrooms are usually clean and I've never had a really long wait. Generally you can get there an hour before your flight time and you'll be fine. It's so much better than LAX! It can be busy during the week but that is par for the course. They have parking across the freeway on Main Street if you are going to be leaving your car there overnight. I'd choose it over LAX anyday!

Saddleback College isn't a bad place to take an extra class or two. It can be fun for professionals who want to relax with an art class or cooking class that isn't going to cost a fortune. For kids just getting out of high school who don't know exactly which way to head this can be a great alternative to a 4 year school. Some of the professors are hit or miss but if a class sucks you didn't lose that much since each class is so cheap! It's worth a shot!

I don't live or work near Villa Park but I tried Rockwell's after a girlfriend told me that after getting her wedding cake done there she's never gotten a cake anywhere else. I gave them a try and now I'll never get a cake at the grocery store again. They are outstanding cakes. You can call and order it special ahead of time or if it is a last minute thing they always have a few in the case out front. My personal favorite is the classic chocolate curl with chocolate covered strawberries! Trust me, your guests will be raving all night about the cake!!!

This yoga studio is the best. I believe they have two or three locations and if you buy the monthly pass you can go to classes at any of the locations. The facilities are always nice and the teachers are wonderful whether you are just starting out or have been practicing for years. They offer a full range of classes from beginning to advanced and everything in between (I think they even have maternity yoga!). FYI, they do sell mats and yoga gear there as well.

The Discovery Science Center is exactly what a kid's museum should be ... HANDS ON! They have a ton of stuff for the kids to play with and touch. Lots of fun science experiments that will wow your little ones. They generally have some type of presentation on the weekends geared towards kids. If you live in the area I suggest getting a pass, it works out to be cheaper in the long run. A good way to keep the kids entertained.

The Santa Ana Zoo is perfect if you feel like going to the zoo but don't feel like sitting in a car for an hour before even getting to the gates. Plus, the Santa Ana zoo is really cheap so you don't feel bad if you only stay for a little while. It generally isn't very crowded which is nice. Overall, it's a fun experience without the price and distance of the bigger zoos.

The Performing Arts center tends to get all the major tours hitting the country. Generally it is stuff that did well on Broadway and you have heard of but they do also get some trial runs before heading to New York. The facility is beautiful ... wonderful acoustics. The shows are always first rate. I've never seen anything there that I didn't enjoy. Get tickets in advance because the more popular shows will sell out for sure.

The Spectrum has gotten out of control recently. It used to just be a nice place to catch a flick and grab a bite to eat but now it's massive! Parking can be a nightmare and there are almost TOO many choices of restaurants. I think they have 3 sushi places! It houses the only Improv in South County so if you are looking for comedy you are stuck but otherwise I'd suggest heading to a place that isn't so crowded and huge.
