I can remember begging my mom to drive me to SouthCenter back when it was the best mall in the area. But now its just a run down structure where the stores aren’t that great anymore in my opinion. The stores they have are not as great as some of the other malls in the area and the ones that I do want to go to seem very small and often are not stocked as well so you can’t find what you want. The only good thing is that they have some great restaurants in the area. Just drive a little further to go to a different mall and you’ll find what you want.

The new and improved Alderwood mall is awesome. I love the combination of indoor and outdoor shopping and the upscale shops they have brought in like Pottery Barn and Williams and Sonoma definitely...
The new and improved Alderwood mall is awesome. I love the combination of indoor and outdoor shopping and the upscale shops they have brought in like Pottery Barn and Williams and Sonoma definitely make it worth a day trip. The mall is clean and has new restaurants to try and a beautiful outdoor fireplace where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. A great mall to wander around and I can’t wait to do my Christmas shopping there!

Remember when Northgate Mall was THE mall to go to? I do, but it sure isn’t the best mall anymore in my opinion. The stores they have are not as great as some of the other malls in the area and the ones that I do want to go to seem very small and often are not stocked as well so you can’t find what you want. The only good thing is that they have some great restaurants in the area. Just drive a little further to go to a different mall and you’ll find what you want.

The Ducks of Seattle is an awesome way to entertain out of town guests. The tour you get while on land and water is amazing and the tour guide is amusing. You definitely get to see more of Seattle and more of the stuff people want to see on this tour than you would if you drove them around yourself or took a walking tour. Worth the extra money but try to get a group deal.

GI Joes is a great place to get inexpensive and cheaper sporting equipment. They often have great deals on shoes, camping equipment and other seasonal items. The service is great and you can find things at a much more reasonable price than at some of the other sports stores. usually by purchasing last years models of things , you can save a lot. The selection of items is great as well- you can always find what you're looking for.

Caribou Coffee is a new chain to our area. They have a ton of different drinks to choose from (I’d say even more than Starbucks) and the prices are about the same. This location is fairly small but this summer we enjoyed sitting outside at the tables provided. One thing I love about getting coffee from Caribou is that on the top of every hot drink they drop a little chocolate covered espresso bean! How cool is that?! An adorable touch and although I wouldn’t frequent it as my coffee house of choice, it is fun for an every once in a while stop when you’re craving something a little different or more choices.

H& M is a fabulous clothing store, originally from Sweden. These are popping up all over the place, in malls. The one here at the Dulles Town Center is big and has a great selection. If you can get past the loud music, the crowds, and some of the scarier pieces of clothing, you can get a ton of great, inexpensive clothing for work, play, clubbing and other events. They have boys, girls, baby, men and women’s clothing as well so there’s always something for everyone. The best part in my opinion are the great accessories! The purses, jewelry and hair items are beautiful and original!

Bubbles is a great salon and they have many locations in malls around Northern Virginia. The staff is very friendly and talented. I have had my hair cut and highlighted by several of the staff and they always give me a great new look. It’s a cool environment and you are treated like you are spending the day at a spa. They sell great products and always help you choose which ones will work for you and which won’t.

Anthony’s Beach Café is a great option if you can’t always afford to go to the fancy version- Anthony’s. The menu is so similar you wont’ miss a thing- from fish and chips to fabulous fish tacos- there’s something for every seafood lover. The chowder is amazing as are the seasonal desserts. You can sit outside when the weather is nice and watch the boats on the water, or sit inside and enjoy the casual atmosphere.

Leena’s is a small café that is in my neighborhood. We love going there for breakfast and lunch because the specials are always amazing. The portions are huge- sandwiches as long as your arm, pastas entrees big enough for a family. The staff are friendly and if you go often enough as we do, they know you and at least know what you’re drinking. A great local place- did I mention the amazing baked goods- just go for that alone!
