PapaSpiros Greek Taverna is draped in blue and white and serves authentic Greek cuisine. Its Mousakas, both the traditional and vegetarian versions, are excellent!!! If you are not sure what to try, check out its combination plate (comes with Mousakas, Spanakopita, etc.). In addition, its servers are funny and attentive. You just cannot go wrong with this Greek restaurant.

Mama Thai is the best Thai food around West Chicago and OP/RF. Mama Thai's interior has beautiful Thai fabrics and intimate wooden booth seatings. My favorite dish is its Basil Chicken. The dish is delicate (very fine ground chicken) with a good kick. In addition, the take-out service is fast and convenient - 15 minutes max. Meanwhile, parking can be a bit problematic since Madison is a busy street, but it is nothing compared to Lakeview/Lincoln Park.

Khyber Pass received "4 Forks" from the Tribune, but I would give it "4 'Bended' Forks." The restaurant is nicely decorated with all the glitter and glamour, but its food is not up to par. I went there for dinner one night encouraged by the "4 Forks" rating only to find out the hard way. I ordered the buffet feast which comes with all the basic and specialty menu items. The foods was normal and the curries were alright. The nan was pretty good - but how can you mess up on nan's? Anyhow, having experienced and traveled to many Southeast Asian regions and having had Indian curry and nan from street vendors without any problem, my dinner at Khyber Pass gave way to major diarrhea later that night. Needless to say, I am not going back.

Johnnie's Beef is my FAVORITE Italian beef shack. Yes, it is a shack with limited seating and long lines day in and day out, but it is worth it. Its Italian beef sandwiches are excellent - you can choose hot peppers or sweet peppers, but I would recommend the hot peppers even if you don't like spicy foods. To add more protein, you can also select the combo which comes with beef and a sausage. Meanwhile, its lemon ice is heaven with chunks of lemon blended inside. The ice is not too sweet nor too bland, but just right. Btw, Johnnie's only takes cash.

Tasty Dog sells hot dogs [period.] Its hot dogs can come with slices of cucumbers and tomato, peppers, chunks of onions, and the usual ketchup and muster given your choice. I would recommend them all for the full Tasty Dog experience. It is something easy to grab on the go and the extra veggies makes you feel better about your choice of food consumption.

The Chicago Firehouse is located in the new found neighborhood of south loop. I visited the restaurant without a reservation on a weekday and was prompted seated. There was live music on that hot summer day in the courtyard, but my friends and I skipped the music for indoor seating due the heat. As far as the food goes, the lobster bisque was creamy and tasty and my Cobb salad was just right. I also tasted my friends' fish dishes (some white fish) and it was alright. The quality of the food was good, but nothing special. All-in-all, I would just the prices are above average ($20-$30 per entrรฉe) given the average food.

Rudy's Cycle carries bikes such as Giant, Schwinn, GT/Dyon. It also carries fitness equipments such as treadmills. I went to the shop because I wanted a Giant and it is the only shop in the neighborhood that carries them. Rudy was exceptionally knowledgeable about the biking industry and gave unbiased suggestions as to which bikes to get. His pricing and great service won me over.

Szechwan Beijing has a good menu base covering all the basic Chinese dishes you would expect. In addition, its take-outs are efficient with generous portions and its dine-in services are above average. The dining area is clean and you can watch the chefs at work on the other side of the glass windows. Its menu can be a bit salty, but that's just my personal taste. Overall, it is a great back up plan on days you don't want to cook and don't want to resort to fast foods.

The Rocking Horse is a new tenant on the Marion Street pedestrian mall. The store sells an assortment of baby, toddler, and young children's clothing and toys. I recently swung by and picked up a very cute tux for my 4-year old nephew. I was not rushed to buy anything and the clerk offered to steam the tux for me after I made the purchase. Why go to Gap when you can find lovely things at a local shop at a reasonable price?!

The Brown Cow lured me in with its old-fashioned ice cream parlor decor and signs. However, I was sort of disappointed with my dining experience there. First, its ice cream are not home-made (I saw labels of Haagan Dazs and other brands on the ice cream bins) although it gives you the impression that its ice cream is "special." Second, its chairs and tables are very dirty. There is no staff wiping anything down while I was there and the tables were sticky (I tried a couple). Third, its "specialty" cones are not so yummy at all. I ordered the chocolate chip cone and the cone was powdery and bland. I would not recommend this ice cream shop given all the other lovely shops nearby in OP.
