You can talk to your friend for a hour here over a cup of coffee and feel perfectly comfortable.
Or, if you're starving, you can get an incredibly huge (and tasty) breakfast. It's the perfect place to meet people when you don't want to be drinking alcohol.
I've never had a bad breakfast there and I love the artsy-fartsy atmosphere--- a little like Berkeley California. Except the prices are much better.
