The parking is terrible--good luck if you want to go for happy hour--but if you can find a space and stand the wait, which is often around an hour, it is well worth it. I'm crazy about their strawberry margaritas, which are the best I've had anywhere, and the Mexican Martinis pack a BIG punch. Lightweights be warned. The chile relleno was always a favorite of mine, as well as the stuffed avocado. They also have patio seating and an upstairs bar.

El Arroyo--not to be confused with the other lesser places with the same name, as this is the only location--is awesome for Mexican, and is a great place to hit up before you cruise up to Sixth Street. Start with queso, and then try the fajitas, although the seafood enchiladas are my personal favorite. Be prepared to wait on weekends.

One of those see and be seen type places. A little overpriced, especially for the service. The girls at the front desk can be abrupt if you have last year's bag. I usually went for eyebrow waxes, and while they were good, the girls always refused to shape them the way I requested, saying it would not be right for my face. But it is a beautiful salon, and they carry a wide range of products.

After years of searching for the right salon, I finally happened across Vanity. It's tucked away down a little side street in a charming little cottage. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, offering you a drink and giving you a tour. Sarah did my highlights, and she is a genius. No one who has touched my hair has ever been able to achieve that perfect ashy blond. I love it.

I was never big on the red salsa--it kind of reminded me of V8--but the green salsa packs a spicy punch. It's popular, so be prepared to wait at any location.

Toy Joy is a wacky little place right on the corner of Guadalupe. The first time I came here my friends had to drag me out! There's so many cute little bits and pieces everywhere. The store is literally stuffed with toys. I'd always go here whenever I needed stocking stuffers or that perfect little odd gift for someone. (And somehow I'd also end up with yards of stickers for me)

This place is the best 24 hr resturant ever. I loved being able to go there at 3am to get a veggie burger or the green enchiladas. IHOP wasn't much for vegetarian (or healthy for that matter) options, so I've always gone here instead. Their queso is magic. They should put it in a jar and sell it. Oh wait, they do! It's an integral part of the Weird spirit that is Austin.

Really cute place. The coffee is tasty, although not your corporate perfected Starbucks blend, the couches are comfy, and the staff is free of the I'm too cool for you vibe. They have live music all the time, and it was really enjoyable to listen to some acoustic guitar melodies while I sipped my latte. They even have real barber chairs!

All the Aveda salons I've been to have been nice, but this one has taken the top place. The spa area is separate from the salon to maintain a quiet atmosphere. Faith was my stylist, and she did some quick aromatherapy and a neck massage before starting to cut my hair. Although the cut was expensive, it was worth it. I love it and made an appointment for color there as well.

I loved Disneyland! And I'm not 6!
Seriously, no matter how old you are, this is something everyone should do. I had a great time with my fiancee,
although everything was so expensive we ran out of cash pretty quickly. But it was worth it to see the Matterhorn and ride Space Mountain and of course, to see Mickey! I can't wait to take my kids someday.
