This place sells anything you would need from your neighborhood hardware store, and more! They are in the middle of a bunch of bars and restaurants on polk street, but every neighborhood needs a convinient hardware store, and Brownies is just the thing for lower polk street residents. They have great customer service and will help you find just the thing to fix whatever household problem you need help with.

Great place for a quick lunch. This is a food court, but do not be decieved - it has a beautiful ceiling to floor flowing waterfall in the middle of the center, and usually has a live piano player during lunchtime on weekdays. It has lots of choices from indian, thai and dim sum to your average food court pizza and burger joints. Also available is your average subway sandwich. Great place for lunchtime meal in the south of market finanical district, but don't go here on the weekends- its a ghost town!

Great place down on Polk street to get either slices of pizza or have a sit-down meal and order the whole thing. They do have inside seating, but do not sell slices to sit-down customers. You must order a meal off their menu if you want to sit down and be served. They do also have take-out slices though, and I reccomend both, depending on your appetite! They also deliver. The pizza is great tasting, the perfect combination of sauce and cheese, and a wonderful very thin new york style crust.

His office staff is wonderful - very friendly and great customer service, they will remember your name even if you've only gone once!

This place is great! Roger always rolls the best, most fresh fish you could ask for. They have ever-changing special rolls, all of them are mouth watering. And if you can't find exactly what you want, ask for it, and not only will they make it, they might just name it after you, and start carrying it on thier menu! Its a small place so make a reservation or come early, but if you can, get a seat at the bar and chat with the chef Roger - he'll make some great suggestions you have probably never tried! My favorite roll is the mighty masha - shrimp tempura on the inside with butterfish on the outside - it melts in your mouth!

For $9 anytime, this is a great price for a lot of tasty beer. Not for the non-beer drinker. The aura seems a bit like a gentlemens club, but thats just because it used to be! Up until 1970-something, the place was men only. But lots of women frequent the place, just don't be afraid to sport your own liter. They have a great happy hour on Friday evenings, with free meatballs and sometimes free fries. This is a rarity for its convinient, financial district location.

This is a quaint neighborhood book shop in the french quarter of russian hill on polk street. They have two distinct sections, one of ceiling high books and another of cards, journals and knick knacks. I haven't bought many books there, although their selection seems thorough, but I always find the right card from their eclectic choices. You are not buying generic walgreens cards, and the "funny" cards are honestly funny. This is not a common place! I also recommend taking a glance at thier sidewalk bin while walking by, of $2 paperbacks and $5 hardbacks. Nice perk that they are open until 10pm, great for after dinner walks.

I eat order from Hahns a least once a week as I am addicted to their spicey barbeque chicken plate ($6.50). With all of their dinner plates, the provide lots of rice, a small salad with homemade dressing and a bit of kim chee. I highly recommend any plate with the spicey bbq sauce. They are eat in and take-out only, do not deliver, but it's worth going down to pick it up! They do not go overboard, but stick to tasty, reliable recipes at dirt cheap prices.

My parents are both shiatsu massage therapists, and since they live out of state, they gave me a gift certificate to the kabuki hot springs to get a massage. It was QUITE relaxing and very professional environment. After my massage, I felt totally refreshed and at ease. They made the process very seamless, although I did have to wait in line to get in the door. Definitely recommend thier massage service.
