This is not a place you would go every week because it gets pricey and is crowded with tourists, but you have to see the view. Its somethink you have to do at least once, and a great place to take visitors in town for a little while for a drink and to show off the city - try to go on a clear day, and you can see 360 degree views of both bridges and across the bay, including downtown and financial district. The martinis are wonderful and they have a huge long list of martinis, all for $10. Its centrally located just at the top of nob hill, and serve dinner as well, but be prepared to spend some real money if you plan to eat dinner as well. I would recommend coming here to relax, have a martini and share the view with good company.

This place always gets you in a spa chair within 10 minutes or so, if there is a wait, and you can't beat the price of $23 for a mani/pedi. Its centrally located to nob hill and russian hill, pacific heights and the marina - most convinient if you live somewhere near polk street. They are very professional and give you a quick foot rub, but the place is like a well oiled machine - quick, efficient and impersonal. They get the job done right, I have never complained, and its a good price, but you won't get personalized service.

Blondies pizza is the best, they have daily specials that are always tasty, even if they aren't combinations you would usually think to put together. They have great prices, especially for being centrally located in union square. The pizza is always my first choice, although lately I have been coupling their veggie deluxe salad with miso dressing along with a piece of pizza, and it is delicious. The dressing is homemade and wonderful, they provide a wide variety of veggies in the salad (not just your lettuce and tomato salad) and a thick slice of honey wheat bread to go along with it. It would be a great meal on its own, and the medium (they only had med and large) is big enough for a meal.

This place has a great ambiance and is impressive as a first view, but the food is unimpressive, especially for the price. They try to take a twist on mexican to make it gourmet, but it ends up being very similar to dishes you could get elsewhere for a better price, and more authentic. It was also very hard to find, as it is in the bottom floor, kind of in the back of a dark financial district building south of market. If you just want to try it out with no expectations, go for it, but if you are wanting a treat to a nice place or want to impress someone, I would go elsewhere.

My boyfriend is vegetarian and I am not, so to celebrate a recent promotion, he chose Greens for our celebration dinner. It is slighly higher priced, but not outrageous, and the food is WORTH it. I got the mushroom ravioli, and the german chocolate cake for dessert and both were to die for. They have a wide range of vegan choices and everything is homemade, and tastes it . Beside all of this great food, the service was impeccable. They anticipated everything we would need or want without stalking our table, even on a busy saturday night. The view is of a georgeous marina with boats and the bay behind it. It may be hard to find this restaurant tucked down in the buildings on fort mason, but its definitely worth a try - and don't go without dessert!!

I have spent many a weekend afternoon relaxing at fort mason - its a great place to take a book and a blanket and just enjoy being outdoors. Watch out though, if its a nice day, it will get crowded with friends throwing balls or frisbees, sometimes kites, and definitely a dog or too. Its a fun community area with a great view. Its placed just on top of a hill, so you have a panoramic view of the bay and golden gate bridge. A great place for a picnic, although the hilly location can also get windy, so bring a jacket!

This is just a neighborhood hole in the wall dive bar, but its well decorated, seems like an art gallery and the people are friendly. I started going to this bar when I lived a block away and saw signs for happy hour. Since then, its started to get a little busier and the happy hour is not quite as cheap - but its still $3.00 for all beers on draft, with free pool if you can get in a game, a few tvs up to watch the game, and friendly neighborhood folks up at the bar to chat with. They do serve homemade pizzas, and they hit the spot if you haven't had any dinner, but I wouldn't recommend substituting them for a meal - they are small and overpriced, although homemade and tasty.

This is a great evening or afternoon hang out, especially when the weather lifts and you have a beautiful day in san francisco. There is a nice, spacious patio and a lot of people from the financial district head over to pier 23 to have a drink after work and enjoy the last hours of sunlight out on the patio. The ambiance is nothing to brag about, its a sports bar/ biker bar through and through, and don't expect a clean bathroom. But its a great place to get together with some friends, sometimes they have live music, and have a drink on the patio.

Every night from 5pm-7pm and 10pm-1am, all well drinks, house wines and draft beers are $3.50. This is a great price for late-night drinking in san francisco. you won't find a big crowd here, and the atmosphere is a little quieter and upscale than most bars on polk street. The staff goes along with it - they called one of my friends, a paying customer "tacky"! But you can't beat the price and the ambiance would be great for a date or conversation over drinks.

This pizza is wonderful, as an after bar snack or just as your dinner! Its a hole in the wall on Green st. in North beach, but this place has been there forever. The pizza is wonderful, they are constantly making it, and warm it up for you when you order. They have an especially pungent clam and garlic special. After hours, they close the doors and open up the window on the sidewalk, but if you want a tasty treat after a night of drinking, I would recommend coming just before bar time. As soon as the bars let out, the line goes down the block, but you're sure to run into someone you know, so it doesn't get boring while you wait!
