The VanAndel Arena is a great place to watch a concert, ice hockey, arena football or any other event that comes to town. It is a huge arena that seats 15,000 and the transformation that takes place in between events is mind-boggling. Every time I attend an event at the arena it looks like a new place. The vendors carry awesome food and the arena is located in central downtown for easy access. Parking costs and food costs can get hefty so plan ahead.

The VanAndel Museum is a great place for the entire family to enjoy. It is a beautiful museum with a view that overlooks the Grand River. There is an antique carousel that offers rides for the entire family. Attending a special event at the Museum also doubles the fun as they frequently offer wine-tasting, fundraising and special holiday events that include the tour of the museum.

Marie's offers daily-fresh-baked desserts that cannot be found anywhere else in town. During my first visit, Marie, the owner, came to our table several times and held conversations with our party. She was very concerned about our satisfaction but interested in find out as much about us as possible. She is a pleasant woman with a rich history. The food was excellent and the dessert even better. The price is average but dessert itself can be a little pricey. But, the taste is well-worth the cost of an occasional indulgence.

This bakery/restaurant is a cut above the rest. The Wealthy Street Bakery is a small local eatery that runs big on taste and quality. The baked goods are fresh out of the oven and the oversized portioned sandwiches are served on their fresh baked breads. Because of their generous portions, 2 can easily dine on a meal meant for one. The desserts, I feel, are better savored at home, on the couch, watching a sunset...Okay, maybe a bit much but the desserts are simply to die for! You won't be disappointed.
