It's probably nice to have two large separate salons in a city like Lafayette, but I've never found either to perform to its pomp. One good thing - they are open on Saturdays. Otherwise - you're much better spending your money at a place that can actually do what they are advertising. I tried their styling (how hard can it be to do a formal style of long hair?), and ended up looking like the 80s. Their manicurist hasn't a clue, either - you literally have to teach her what to do. Besides that, they come up with those expensive packages, which actually have no discount from the services, for the weddings etc. I can't imagine why anyone would even bother...

After renovating, this is absolutely a beautiful place - spacious and open (check out the reading room on the second floor!). Great CD and DVD collection, including older pieces. The service is fast, and the place is never crowded (still don't know why :). There's a parking garage for the library across the street - seems rather big for the place, but better then the 1-hour spots outside.

Even if you do not end up buying anyting, the place has amazing entertainment value. Unbelievable and unique selection of jewelry, beads, candles, holiday cards (not your Hallmark store!), plush toys, and whatnots (including shells, stones, stickers and butterflies). Great fun to just browse! The prices are within students' range, and the selection changes often (meaning, by the time you thought you figured everything out, something new appears).

Cosy and local place with narrow book isles, tons of travel literature, and some textbooks (some professors oder their course texts to arrive there, too, so the students can escape the start-of-semester hustle of the University Bookstores). Lots of lovely notebooks and calendars, if you are into that sort of thing. Also, the selection in sciences is pretty remarkable - I suppose they discovered it pays, when you're close to that big of a school. Overall, great fun to browse. Pricewise, the same as Borders, minus the coupons.

The place is nice a quiet, the staff friendly and helpful. DO take their recommendations on the timing - this was the first and only place I ever burnt when I decided to go over what they suggested. They have samples of their lotions available, usually, and offer good packages. Overall, a good impression. If you have to wait, there's a lounge with plenty of magazines, so even going with a few friends isn't a problem.

The Wright Flowers is not the best place for flowers in the Purdue Vicinity, but it's decent - central location, helpful staff. They have prepared bouquets, but ask to see the cooler - you can pick out the freshest flowers, and they put them together on the fly for you. Flowers come with little water retainers on the bottoms (which they should, for that price...). If you plan to throw a flower arrangement together, ask the florist - they can teach you that in no time, and will sell you pins and flower tape for that, which is rather nice actually...

This tanning place next to Panera Bread tries to position itself as an upscale, which they probably are, but monstrous beds and excess of leopard-print in the interior don't make up for their poor attitude.. They are nice enough to you if the place is entirely empty and you want to check out the beds, but whenever you try to find out a little more about the packages and lotions, it's a mess. The place also tends to get busy in the evenings, and then the staff get short-tempered. They also close early, and will kick you out 20 minutes prior to closing time.

Quality cleaning, competitive prices. I'd rather take men's shirts in there ($2 clean & press) than struggle with everything on my own. They do pretty good on challenging orders (old and hard-to-clean stains), and they are always on time. The priority service is the next day, and they never failed me on that either. Don't expect a phone call telling you to pick up your load though, and keep your receipt - they usually can track down your order without it, but it never hurts to have it on hand.

Amazing selection, fresh flowers (heads up: Wednesday is the day to go for new arrivals), friendly staff, ready to work with you. Choose your florist carefully there - some are traditional, some are eclectic (I prefer eclectic, traditional bores me, but you might be otherwise). Just look at the already-made bouquets at the reception, decide which ones you like, and ask for the person who made those. By the far wall there are half-priced "last-week's" flowers, some pretty good anyhow. Also, there's usually a special on one of the varieties of roses, a dozen for $6.99 or less. Haven't seen any place beat that! They also have flower arrangement lessons, and always bring in some new blooms you won't see anywhere else - just to educate the community. If you walk around Levee Plaza, every business there has Rubia flowers - it's a really neighbourghly place!

The place itself looks uninspiring to me, and even the cooler doesn't always have much variety. But with an advance order, they can do wonders. The owner is an absolute fan of flowers and floral arrangements, the ideas he comes up with are out of this world. They also don't frown at inexpensive orders, and will let you know what flowers are in season and how to get the most out of your finances. But they will also get rare flowers, if that's what you want - these guys are amazingly resourceful.
