The salads are very good and often sell out. The sandwiches are made to order. Everything is very fresh. The cookies are freshly made and very delicious.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Bourgeois Pig is a favorite of students and neighborhood residents. The little cafe is right on Fullerton but seems to be hidden due to it's being set back from the street. In front of the building is a small outdoor seating area.
Inside there are tables on the first and second floors. The coffee is good. They also have specialty sodas. The food is very good. They have a large selection of sandwiches and also have quiche and muffins. They will also make you a made-to-order sandwich.
Bourgeois Pig is a great place to study, read a book, or visit with a friend.

The atomosphere is very laid back. The service is a bit slow but it's fitting for the atmosphere. Order your refills early.

Chicago Chop House is everything you'd expect a great Chicago steak house to be. The restaurant has great old tin ceilings and old pictures adorn the walls. The bar is well stocked and they have a very extensive wine list.
The steaks are huge! They even offer a 96 ounce porterhouse. They tout their potato pancakes to be something special. They are very good and not what you would typically expect from a steakhouse potato pancake.
Typical of the old Chicago steak house, they bar can get a little smokey from the cigars, but this is a small price to pay for the great food, service, and atmosphere.

Sixty Five is a decent place to grab a quick lunch. It's conveniently located downtown. The line moves quickly, thanks to the staff that rushes you through the ordering process. The portions are large. The prices are pretty cheap. They offer some more traditional dishes than other Chinese fast food restaurants. The dim sum is good if you go before lunchtime, otherwise it isn't that fresh.
Seating at Sixty Five isn't great. They have a few tables that are very close together. I'd recommend taking your meal to-go.

The selection at Pompei is great. They have a large variety of pizzas. The pizza crust is similar to focaccia bread. Pompei also has pizza streudel which is like a baked sandwich pocket. They offer a large variety of fillings for the streudel too.
Pompei also serves salads and pasta dishes. I've heard the chopped chicken salad is excellent. The pasta I've had there was good but I'd stick with the pizza and salads.

Joy's Noodles on Broadway is average Thai food. Meals at Joy's are fairly inexpensive and the portions are large. The service is good. The restaurant is seemingly well-liked; there is often a wait at dinnertime, even on weeknights. The restaurant is pretty small but the tables turnover pretty quickly. The outdoor patio is a very nice benefit.

Flat Tops is a great place for "make your own stirfry." The set-up is simple. You start with rice or noodles at the beginning of the bar, load up your bowl with veggies and other fixings, add sauce(s) from the large variety on the display, and then finish with meat if you'd like. You leave your bowl at the end of the bar for cooking and your server delivers the stirfry delight to your table. If you're not good at making the combinations yourself, there are menu ideas at the table and on the walls. The stirfry bar is a flat rate for lunch or dinner. Drinks, appetizers, and dessert are extra.

I love the steaks at Tango Sur. The steaks are Argentianian beef and really have great flavor. The empanadas are excellent and are great for an inexpensive meal. The restaurant is typically crowded, so expect a long wait during peak dinner hours. The tables are close together but lends to a cozy atmosphere rather than being intrusive. Parking in the area can be difficult so patience is key.

Charlie's Ale House is an average restaurant and bar. The variety of beers on tap is nice. The food is average to above average, however, the menu is limited and not overly exciting. The salmon bites appetizer is very good. The chicken pot pie is good. The most exciting item on the menu is the s'mores dessert. Cocktails at Charlie's can get expensive. I will admit, however, that even though it's an average place, I've been there several times.
