The Scrapbook Nook is the closest scrapbook store to San Francisco, without crossing the bridge. They have many products - paper, embellishments, tools - to choose from. They also have a sales table, and if you have children, a play area that opens into the store. The prices are at about MSRP, but most scrapbook stores are. The only thing I didn't like about the store was the customer service. My friend and I were the only ones in the store, but I felt like we weren't there at all. They did not go out of there to show us product or make me feel welcome. They really didn't want my daughter to even use the restroom, but I told them she HAD to or she was gonna pee in the play room. She told me to make sure I flush! Now that's NOT nice. I've been there a few times, but don't bother to engage in conversation with them. Just buy my stuff and get out. But if they continue to treat me that way, I guess I shouldn't shop there at all.

The Monterey Barber shop is where my husband likes to get his hair cut. Just down the street from home, so the location is great! Anyway, the people are friendly and they listen to how you want your hair cut. And the price is not bad, either. Especially in this day where cuts can be more than $50. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done, and very well.

This store has it all. If you love to read, then this is the place for you. It's no Barnes and Nobles, but it is quite big with a huge selection of all types of books. And if they don't have it? Don't worry!!! The friendly and knowledgable staff can special order it for you. They have all the latest and greatest, as well as, classics. Especially helpful is its downtown location. If you work downtown, it's just a leisurely walk. If not, they are right on Market street with access to all the major buslines.

Yarn, yarn, and more yarn!!! If you love yarn, or if your a scrapbooker and lover fibers, this is the place for you! Any type and color imaginable - ladder, soft, furry, fuzzy, black, white, green, burnt orange - you name it, they've got it! I love going in there and just browsing and touching. They have a great sale section, too! I love the way they have everything clearly marked and how much per yard. Truly a wonderful place for the knitter/crocheter, crafter, scrapbooker.

Monterey Pizza's pizza is ok, although I'm not really into thin, greasy pizza. However, if you like pizza this way, it may taste great to you! They do have other items on their menu to choose from: salad, calzones, sodas, etc. Their delivery is quick, and the prices are reasonable, however, especially if you live in the neighborhood.

Yet another of my "hole in the wall" restaurants! This one is a chinese one in the Sunset. The servers are really friendly and the food is good here. They also have a banquet room upstairs if you have a bigger party (although not huge, but a good size). They have a value menu that you can ask for with a variety of dishes to choose from. They also have the traditional "family banquet" meal that you can choose from for parties of 10. Their servings are very generous, so come with an appetite. My favorite, the crab!

Another "hole in the wall" restaurant. I love these types. They have great food for great prices with helpful servers. My favorite here is the bento boxes, especially the teriyaki chicken and beef. You get your rice, your meat/fish, salad, soup, and sushi. So good and so easy on the pocketbook. If you go, call ahead. They are closed for a few hours after lunch and before dinner. If going for dinner, try and get there right before it opens because, on busy nights, the line can get long, as is the wait.

Are you on a budget and looking for a good place to eat? Try Super Star Restaurant. They have both Filipino and Chinese food, but the value is in the "breakfasts." It's a little hole in the wall, but service is quick, and the price is unbeatble. My favorites are the longanisa (sausage) breakfast and tapsilog (beef breakfast). For little money you can have rice, meat, egg, and pineapples.

they never seem to make me feel welcome when I am there. I am always self conscience when I walk in there. However, I do see that they go out of their way for other customers and are super friendly to them. Now, they are never really rude me, just not very helpful and act bothered when I ask a question. They don't greet me, I have to find things on my own, and they are in a hurry to check me out. And when I bring MY kids, they seem to watch them like a hawk (although my girls are pretty quiet). Usually if I HAVE to go there, I'm in and out really fast. Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel particularly comfortable browsing around for a certain amount of time there.
