REI is by far my favorite outdoor equipment store. Not only do they have a wide selection of products, but the nicest staff I've seen at any store. The staff is knowlegable not from research, but from using the equipment on their own. I never feel like I come across people who consider it "just a job," but only people who truly love working at REI.

I've been to Charley's a bunch of times and would recommend their brunch highly. Their dinner is pretty good, but it depends what you order. The chowder is delicious along with many of the appetizers, but I haven't liked any of their salads. Brunch comes complete with a drink of choice and a feast to keep you full until dinner time. I highly recommend.

I went to Stephan's on two separate occassions and was pleased both times. The first time I went, I called ahead to ask the price and was told $40, a very reasonable price for Newbury Street. Eric cut my hair the first time and did an amazing job. Not only was I pleased with my haircut, but he gave me a full lesson on blow drying my hair. My second cut was by Stephan. I didn't know that the price goes up depending on the level of the stylist and paid somewhere around $70 for a cut I liked, but not as much as the cut by Eric. I like Stephan a lot, though, and would definitely return.

When searching for a bridal gown, I visited many local bridal salons. I loved the dress selection at L'Elite, probably the most comprehensive of high end designers in Boston (the city, not region). I was really pleased with the service when trying on Bridal Gowns, but less pleased when trying to find a bridesmaid dress. I just thought that some of hte salespeople were snippy. However, I must say that they have a nice selection of bridesmaid dresses, by far the most I've seen of Vera Wang. I would still shop there just for the wide selection of dresses.

I went to Altered Bride while searching for my wedding dress. What I loved most about this store is that the owner designs many of the gowns herself. This gives you a much better chance at an original dress. For such a dress, the prices were incredibly reasonable. The store also has the largest selection of bridal accessories out of the many stores I visited. I highly recommend this bridal salon!

I was recommended to Dr. Horowitz by a previous dentist and could not be happier with the service. Not only is the dental work exemplary, but he and his staff actually make it fun to go to the dentist... well as fun as going to the dentist can be. There are TVs in all the rooms and the staff seems more like a family than a group of coworkers. Highly recommend!

I went to this jewelery to get a necklace repaired, nothing fancy, just a silver chain that had kinked and broken. I walked in to this store, one of the many in Downtown Crossing and was quickly approached by the first "stand." I just went with them because they said they could replace the necklace and have it completed by the next day. I went back the next day to pick up the necklace, which is not terribly far out of my way, but demands a separate trip. The necklace was not ready. The jeweler was apologetic, but I was irritated I had gone out of my way and they did not keep their promise of having it complete in one day. I went back a few days later to pick it up and it had a different chain on it than I selected. They said they couldn't find the one I originally chose and substituted this one. I took it as it because it was just a moderately priced silver necklace, but thought they should have called me before making the substitution.

Jae's is by far my favorite place for pad thai and sushi. It's great for take out, but a cute little restaurant for a night out. It occupies the first floor of a brownstone on Columbus in the South End, off the beaten path of the other mainstays in the neighborhood. Their lunch menu is another way of satisfying a sushi craving at a much sweeter price.

I went to Grettacole for a waxing and was extremely pleased with the staff and the facility. The atmosphere is extremeley relaxing despite it's location in the Westin Hotel on a corridor leading to Copley Place. I really liked the woman who gave me the waxing. She was pleasant and helpful to me, a first timer. The only downside of this place was the price, which I think is probably normal in this area, but there are certainly cheaper places. Still, I would recommend if you're willing to spend the money.
