Although this isn't the orginal Billy Goat location, you'll find the food and atmosphere the same. The burgers are made fresh right in front ot you. For the vegetarians, there's a grilled cheese or fried egg option. You get the idea - it's an old-fashioned type grill - the real deal. The prices are as cheap as you'd expect from the lunchroom type tables and chairs. The Billy Goat is an institution and this alternate location gives you the real flavor.

Ranalli's pizza can be delivered and is pretty good, and a good value for the roughly $20 it will cost you for a large. There is also a good sized restaurant, with outdoor seating in the warmer weather. The restaurant menu has a wide variety of American and Italian food - everything from burgers and salads to peppers and eggs. Everything I've had has been decent when eating there, but getting pasta to go has been expensive and not the greatest quality in the past.

The Field House is easy to miss - it's located on Clark Street in Lincoln Park, just north of the Caribou Coffee (corner of Arlington and Clark St.). Apparently this bar traditionally was a Springsteen bar, and it attracts a somewhat older crowd - haven't seen any college kids here - but I've also heard a wide variety of music. Very cheap specials and regular priced beer is all pretty darn cheap too. Rarely crowded during the week, so usually quiet enough to meet up with friends and still hear each other talk.

The food here is great. It's tasty, fast, and most entrees are under ten dollars. It is also the perfect place to order carry-out from. They do delivery, but be prepared for a mistake if you try this route - maybe it's just too loud in there for them to correctly hear your order? Better to stop in and either wait for it, or come back ten minutes later. But you cannot beat the price and it is good quality, so worth any quirks.

The outdoor seating is very cramped, but kudos to them for squeezing outdoor seating into their tiny space on Broadway.
Unfortunately, the service was not very good. It took forever for a waitress to come, and then after bringing our food to our tiny table she never came back to take away our sald plates or refill our drinks.
All in all, it was adequate, but I've had better Italian food for cheaper.

This place has tons of pool tables, but it also acts as the main sports bar because it has so many televisions and Champaign doesn't have many sports bars to compete. The place is huge - it's in a really old building that I think used to be a factory.
It also has a private room that can be rented out (but not cheap) for private events.
The menu features appetizers, burgers, and individual pizzas.
Cheap beer and very crowded during Illini games.

Boltini is in a really cool building - the owners totally redid this 1920s building and it's very neat. The lounge started as a jazz lounge and that gave it some identity. They have a variety of drinks and the specialty is martinis. They also have a limited appetizer menu, but the appetizers are all very high-quality and tasty.
Unfortunately, the lounge often has late-night deejays that either don't know how to adjust the sound system or simply choose to blast the music far too loud for a space that size. At such times, the place becomes just another bar where it's too loud to talk, and it's worse because the place is so small. Hopefully they'll go back to their jazz identity.

They massively redid the place since it was 2 Main and it's much lighter now. There are flat screen t.v.s, but they can't be clearly seen from every seat in the bar. There are also a couple pool tables, and the food is pretty good, and it is definitely reasonably priced. They do a pretty brisk lunch business, and the weekends always have people there. There is a pretty good sized outdoor eating area, both along Neil and Main. Great for nice weather. The quality of service is hit or miss - sometimes I think they just are more crowded than they thought they'd be and are short-staffed.

The bar varies from completely packed to pretty empty. It's kitty-corner from the Capitol, so it's definitely convenient if your business takes you to the Capitol.
They have salads, soups, burgers, and the Springfield-famous horseshoe and ponyshoe - otherwise known as a heart attack on a plate.
Not spectacular but very convenient and pretty quick service.

This is the perfect after-work bar - it's quick, it's cheap, and there's free food that rotates based on the day of the week. Sure, it's bar food, but hey - if you had to work through lunch it's a lot better than drinking on an empty stomach. It also goes pretty quickly so gets freshly replenished frequently.
Good size place, including the upstairs which they seem to just open if needed.
Burgers, salads, etc. and they're open for lunch too. The food service at lunch is fast so it's a perfect place to meet a friend for just a quick lunch on a work day.
