Located on 55th street right on the University of Chicago campus (on the first floor of a parking lot), this is both a bowling alley and a restaurant/bar. There is a decent selection of beers and other drinks from the bar and I think that the food is good for this type of a place. There are a lot of burger choices as well as other options (meatloaf, etc.) and some vegetarian friendly items as well. There are TV screens where you can watch sports games.

This restaurant has good quality Italian food and consistent service. The portions here are huge: big enough to split or to take some home and have leftovers the next day. This is a good place to come with family or friends, because it is very conducive to a family-style meal. There are private rooms to hold small parties and larger receptions (e.g. weddings).

Sangria is a tapas restaurant, a bar and a club. We had to wait for an hour for our table, despite having a reservation. This was made much less painful by the bar area, which is large. They also comped our drinks once we sat down. The food is pretty good, but not as good as at some other tapas restaurants in Chicago. Sangria is definitely more of a scene, around 11:30 they started playing music and opened up the dance floor.

Located in Rolling Meadows, this is probably the best Russian restaurant in Chicago. They have amazing food (and tons of it) and good service. It is impossible to leave here hungry. Most people who come here come to celebrate special occasions and they hold brunches and dinners on weekends with a live band so that your guests can both enjoy the food and dance the night (or the afternoon away).

In addition, there is a large drinks menu with a lot of martini and saketini options. This place has been relatively empty every time I have visited, although I have heard that it gets busier later at night.

The sushi is great (both the pieces and the rolls) and all of the fish is very fresh. The rolls are very innovative, try the Godzilla roll! There are also a lot of drink choices, including martinis with sake.

The atmosphere is very basic and the crowd is mostly made up of students and neighborhood residents. They seem to do a lot of carry-out. The owners are very friendly.

If you want a quicker, more informal meal, you can eat at the bar, where they also have a selection of sandwiches. This restaurant is pricey, but you get what you pay for here.

The food is very fresh and authentic, the service is friendly and this restaurant is BYOB, making it a great place for a date or dinner out with friends. The prices here are very reasonable.
