Sam & Andy's used to be the essential food experience of any Knoxville trip for me and my family. Located on the strip, it was hard to beat after a football game. Well, they've moved out west, but the food is still great. I love the steamed sandwiches. Especially an open-faced roast beef. Mmmm...my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Schlotzsky's is one of our favorites for lunch or a quick dinner. They have homemade sandwiches, soups, and salads, as well as pizzas. They offer yummy chips as sides! And pickles! They take credit cards and some locations have a drive through. We love their sandwiches, especially the Original. Enjoy!

Rafferty's is a great place for casual dining. I go there for the salads (Chicken salad served with fruit or the fried chicken salad with hot bacon honey mustard dressing). My husband likes their steaks and burgers. It's casual yet elegant. You'll see people in blue jeans or prom dresses! They have great food! Enjoy!

Charlie Peppers is a nice place to eat! You can get typical Tex-Mex variety food as well as standard American versions. It's reasonably priced, in the ballpark of Applebee's or Chili's, but the atmosphere is better (less chain-like). The West Town location feels more upscale while the Strip location feels like a college hangout. Both are good.

This is another great restaurant for special occasions. We got the "Night Out" for two, and it was a unique dining experience. You start with a cheese fondue in which you dip breads and veggies. Next, you move on to the main course - you cook your own meats in a boiling flavored oil that you choose. Then, the best part - chocolate fondue!!! You choose the chocolate and then dip fruits, cakes, and marshmallows in it! It's so much fun!

McAlister's is a deli that is growing in popularity in college towns. It's a little bit pricey, but most of the menu items are well worth it. I love the McAlister's Club sandwich (which you can also get as a wrap), the chicken Caesar wrap, the "spuds" (which are actually two potatoes put together) and their soup in bread bowl. And, don't forget the GIANT sweet tea. The side dishes (potato salad, fruit salad, or chips) are all really good. Enjoy!

Sonic is amazing! It's a drive-in, so it's fast food service without the rush. You can take your time ordering and they take credit cards! The menu is my favorite - great burgers, fries, hotdogs, etc. And then there's dessert - yum! Shakes, lime-ades, malts - I could go on and on. It's wonderful.

Farragut is arguably one of the best middle schools in the Knoxville area. The academics are very strong there and there are a lot of "extras" offered. Though much of the faculty is caring and creative, there is a segment of the teaching population that is stuck in a rut and uses outdated (boring) teaching practices. I also worry that the children at Farragut feel the pressure to "fit in" more than at other middle schools. The high socioeconomic status of much of the population creates the illusion that the students have to have the latest cell phones, Northface jackets, and other trendy items.

I went to UT for graduate school and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's a top-notch research institution with caring faculty. Not to mention the best football team in the country! The football games are a blast. It's got a pretty heavy Greek scene, if you're into that, but also a lot of cultural events if you're not! I'm proud to be a Tennessee Vol!
