Buddakan is one of the truly unique spots in Philly. A crown jewel in Stephen Starr's empire, it is known as much for its romantic setting and ambiance as for the food, which is no slouch itself. Buddakan offers a wide array of fusion food, and, while it is sometimes pricey, it is always worth the experience.
Buddakan is great for families, too, as the serving style works well for large groups. Make sure you come hungry and ready for a new experience and you will eave satisfied!!!
Highly reccomended!!!!

Mandarin Gourmet has been at its Route 59 location for years. I used to go with my family many years ago, and recently began going back once in a while for lunch. The food is solid, not spectacular, but the people are SUPER nice and the sesame chicken is great. Occasionally another dish will be a huge home run (i recently loved a dish of kung po chicken).
I wish there were a 3 1/2 stars option, as that is what I would give MG. The sesame chicken is a 4 1/2, the service is a 5, and it is a business that I am glad to see stick around and hope it continues to succeed for years to come.

Planet Wings has a great selection of great wings. They have a huge multitude of available sauces, ranging from basic "hot" to "garlic butter" to many other, more exotic, selections. The fries are also worth the trip, and some of the combos make PDub a very economical option.
The one drawback to PW is that some of the wings are smaller than many places. They definitely aren't the huge ones that some are accustomed to, but, IMO, they make it up for it both in quality and selection.

Bejing is in a Penn Institution. Located right near the Quad, one of the central dormitories on campus, it is always packed with students and professors alike. A favorite for its quickness, it is also VERY fresh and VERY good, basic Chinese.
Don't expect to sit around for an hour after lunch- they certainly move the people in and out in a hurry. But it is well worth the lack of ambiance for the great food.

Bagel Boys has pretty good bagels, although far from the best in the area, but great appetizing- perfect for catering a brunch or another likeminded event. The lines are sometimes crazy, especially around the Jewish holidays, but you can always phone in an order and have it ready for pick up. They stock all sorts of baked goods, as well... definitely a spot worth a visit.

Pasta Cucina is a well known restaurant in Rockland. The lines are often out the door and it is a popular "date" place for those in the County.
However, I have eaten there many times and have never been completely impressed. The menu is pricey, the place is loud, and the food is average.
What I do enjoy is going for lunch, as they have great lunch specials, significantly more affordable, and a calmer, more sedate crowd. I always ask for vodka sauce on my side of pasta, which is by far my favorite thing there (maybe I should just get it for the main course!!)
Overall, PC is not at the top of my list in the County, but you could certainly do worse for a business lunch.

abner's is a serviceable steak. for those who like the meat chopped (as opposed to sliced), it is possibly a very good steak. i love the belly buster special- a cheesteak, cheese fries and unlimited soda for some ridiculously low price. i also really enjoy the pizza steak.

Having lived in Philly for four years, I have sampled most of the well known cheesesteak places (geno's, jim's, daellesandro's, steve's, abner's, etc.) and Pat's still is my favorite. While many think it is taboo to call this supposed tourist trap great, when it is firing on all cylinders it is truly mouth watering. A whiz with on a nice summer night is almost an unbeatable expreience, both for the food and the atmosphere.

I have eaten at many great places, and Pod is absolutely one of my favorites. From the minute you walk in you are treated with great respect and to a great experience. The restaurant is truly one of a kind, as is the food. The tempura appetizer is not to be missed, followed by the wasabi crusted filet mignon which is literally making my stomach growl. While it is somewhat pricey, it is not at all out of line with what one would expect from such a great place. I love, love Pod, and would go back every time I am in Philly.

Often known as too touristy, I think Joe's is great for a Chinatown experience that isn't too overwhelming. The soup dumplings are great (although not as good as New Green Bo), and all the entrees I have tried (mainly food like kung po chicken) have been excellent. The ambiance leaves much to be desired, and it is relatively expensive for Chinatown, but still a spot not to be missed. I highly reccomend Joe's.
