This neighborhood pizza joint is probably the best kept secret in Tampa. It has been here for as long as I can remember (maybe over 20 years), located next to the Big Lots at the corner of Bearss and Florida Avenue. This is truly New York style pizza. All ingredients are super fresh, and totally homemade. Very very reasonably priced. A large cheese pizza is somewhere around $10...but it's huge! They do not accept credit cards or checks, so be sure to bring cash. Very family oriented and not the greatest of decor, but the pizza makes up for the atmosphere. This place does a great take out business too. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Berns is where my husband and I go for special occasions. It is pricey, but worth every penny! Service is outstanding, and I happen to love the atmosphere because it's so different than a regular ol' restaurant...boring. Servers treat you as if you're a millionaire and their only customer. I'm not a big steak eater, but I always order seafood there. Their lobster (ask server for the sizes they have that night) is to die for...and they clean it and take it out of the shell for you. Fish is fresh, kept in tanks in their own kitchen (they even let you choose which fishy you want to devour if you so desire). Shrimp and scallops are devine! Save room for the trip to the dessert room. Can't go wrong with anything that is served up there. My favorite room is the "Port Room" for quiet and intimate/coziness. Have your server reserve the room for you when you order your dinner. I can't get enough of this wonderful restaurant!
