The anti-buffet Indian restaurant
Saturday, October 23, 2004
I used to think I didn't like Indian food. But I realized rather late in life that I didn't like the North Indian food most restaurants think Americans want (tons of ghee, lots of meat). Pongral is a great alternative for people who are sick of bad Chicken Tikka Masala and overcooked vegetables. It serves South Indian food with tasty dishes such as uttampams and dosas and other vegetarian stews. I would also recommend this great puffed rice appetizer but I can't remember what it is called (it's something people who actually know what they're talking about say are sold on the streets of India as a tasty snack).
