Not your ordinary taqueria
Friday, October 15, 2004
New York has quite a number of high end mexican restaurants (Zarela, Rosa Mexicano) and Maya is comparable to both those older, more venerable institutions. The decor is clever and unusual (chunky wooden and rattan chairs, tropical fruits or flowers as centerpieces) and the menu adventurous without being overreaching or odd. A little extravagant to turn to on a weekday night, but an excellent choice if you want to meet friends in this neighborhood.
