I went to Universal Sole on Lincoln Avenue based on a recommendation by a friend. This place was amazing!
The salespeople are extremely knowledgeable about running and the shoes they sell. I went in the store somewhat knowing what to expect, but I was still blown away by the service.
The salesperson had me take off my shoes and walk on a track to determine how my feet react while walking. Based on that, she picked out several running shoes to try that had the type of support I needed for the way I run. I tried on each shoe, ran on the track, and then determined if it was the right fit for me.
I ended up with a pair of shoes I would have never chosen, but they are the most comfortable running shoes I have ever purchased. I'm looking forward to a lot of miles on these shoes!

With it's great location on Clark in Wrigleyville, Tryst is a different type of bar amidst the sports bars and Irish pubs in the area.
Tryst has a cool look to it with lots of small and intimate tables, but it's not that big. They do have a private party room in the back with its own bar. The drinks are made well, but the bartenders aren't always the friendliest.
We went to a private party (all you can drink) and had a great time in the party room. Everyone was friendly, and the people working the entrance to the party were very careful that everyone had paid first.
It's worth a try if you'd like something new and different in Wrigleyville!

Monks Pub is somewhat hidden away on Lake Street and Wells. Unless you're really looking for it, you may pass it up.
Their burger menu is extensive and also has a 'true' veggie burger. They have several different burger options with cheese, various toppings, and they all come with a generous side of fries (regular or Cajun) and a large pickle wedge. You also have the choice to have onions either raw or grilled.
The vegetarian burger is not what I was expecting, but still good nonetheless. I was expecting more of a soy burger, but it actually has large pieces of avocado and other veggies inside the burger itself.
The servers are nice and they will take reservations for larger parties. It's always a good idea to get reservations because the place fills up quickly!
You also might want to bring a pair of sunglasses since it's really bright when you step outside after being in the pub for lunch.

Rivers is a great happy hour bar and restaurant located on the Chicago River between Madison and Monroe. The place is huge! There is a lot of seating inside and even more outside.
With its great Loop location, it's the perfect spot to meet friends for drinks after work. Thursdays and Fridays get very busy really quickly, so if you are trying to accommodate a large group, you might want someone to get there early for the table.
The waitstaff is friendly, the drinks are reasonably priced (for downtown), but the atmosphere and location make it worth it!
I've only tried the french fries, so I can't comment on the quality of the food.

We visited the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant recently as a new and different place to try with a couple of friends.
We had a reservation and were seated immediately when we arrived. The restaurant was busy, but not too crowded (it was a weekday evening, though).
Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, and made a great selection on the wines to accompany our dinner. The food was just okay. I've had better steaks elsewhere. The atmosphere was very nice, though. Comfortable banquette tables, adequate lighting (maybe a little too bright, though).
It was worth a try, but I'm not sure we'd go back.

Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, but not exactly what I would call friendly.
They had a decent menu and the sushi was prepared well.

It was a good place to eat, but not outstanding. It's in a great location and worth a try.

We worked with Debbie on our first home (condo) purchase. She was very conscientious, thoroughly explained the buying process to us, and made great recommendations for other professionals we used during the process.
She communicated with us regularly, showed us properties that we were genuinely interesting in purchasing and made the process effortless.

I took my car in to the Midas location on Roosevelt Road in Chicago. I needed my brakes repaired as well as a new tire.
I called ahead to make sure they would be able to service my car on a Friday. I dropped my car off (at the time I had requested) and was told I would be called after the estimate was ready.
By 4pm, I still hadn't received an estimate, so I called and was told it would be ready in a half hour. Still no phone call and the shop was to close at 6pm. At 5, I called again, and was given an estimate, but told that my car wouldn't be ready until noon the next day and my tire would be fixed. Fine by me.
My husband and I went to the shop to pick up the car on Saturday. It still wasn't ready. We waited in the shop for 3 more hours before the car was ready, but I was told then that the tire couldn't be fixed.
In the end, my car was fixed, but I had to go to another shop to get a new tire.
