Dependably Above Average Thai on Queen Anne

Tuesday, June 27, 2006
I've been living on Queen Anne for two years, and always depend on Orrapin for my last-minute Thai cravings. Orrapin has a diverse menu of Thai fare from which to choose, and the kitchen almost never disappoints. From dates to friends to take-out, I have been able to depend on Orrapin to deliver a speedy, dependably above average feast. When dining in the restaurant, the ambiance is warm and inviting, with wood floors, tables, and chairs, warm colours and decorative feel make you feel like you're in an thai jungle getaway. Where Orrapin has failed me once or twice is the service. I've visited many times, and the service seems to vary depending on which evening I visit. On certain nights the service is fantastic, with servers accommodating my every request. On certain nights, such as a recent Monday evening, the server was obnoxious and sarcastic to our requests (we only asked that our rice be delivered with our meal, not 10 minutes later, standard protocol from what I understand!) Aside from the random poor service, I will still call Orrapin home on those last-minute "What do I do for dinner?" excursions, but consistent service is what is preventing me from calling Orrapin Seattle's Best.
