Take your pick on any menu item and you will be happy, that's our experience. Take a map to find this restaurant, its on the waterfront and you have to weave through town to get to it. Good crab, fish and chips, cod, with bread, good wine and beer selections. The tables are cozy. The style is casual. Birding along the nearby creek and along the waterfront is good in winter.

This has been one of our favorite hotels for years. It is right on the waterfront, access is a block away from the main highway. The office staff has lots of information and is very friendly. There's a trail that runs down the waterfront that is lit at night. We've watched fisherman and great blue heron's night fishing. The swimming pool and hot tub is outside across the parking lot. The restaurant and cafe both have good food although we've dined most at the cafe. Prices are reasonable. It's a great place to go to see winter birds especially harlequin ducks (out on the spit).

I had a luncheon special with spicy chicken, wonton soup, rice, two types of spring rolls, tea, fortune cookie and it was warm, fresh, and pretty tasty. I was seated within seconds of entering. The staff was entirely efficient, checking with me often. The food arrived quickly and I was back to my weekend class with minutes to spare. Most items are traditional American Chinese, but some spicy and you can request up to 5*, condiments on the table. Cozy booths and tables. Some lunches under $4, mine was $5.50.

I ran into Dr. Joos more than 20 years ago when I injured my eye at Boeing -- I had a chemical blister on my eyeball tha the treated with no loss to vision. I used him again recently when I had some vision problems. He's thorough, his exams careful, and he's very nice as is his staff. His office is in the building next door to Valley Medical. Beware his silly pen, though.

We didn't stay here, but it had a nice pool, was on the beach, and looked quite new. We ate in the bar, and the waiter was wonderfully kind since we'd just come off our ocean expedition and were exhausted and starved having been afraid to eat on the boat. The sandwiches and hot drinks we got were wonderful, we were doted on, the tv changed to a game my husband wanted to watch, and had a really nice time. Sandwich prices were under $10.

This hotel was a real delight, and when we went, was under restoration. The rooms aren't outrageously priced, are comfortable, and they have a swimming pool. It had the usual hair dryer, shampoo, tv etc. The dining room looked like something out of the past, with a grand piano, velvet and chandeliers but the salad I had was wonderful, as was my husband's sandwich. The staff was friendly and it was very close to the dunes. We stayed here prior to an deep sea birding expedition.

Dr. Miller is a nice man and good doctor. His schedule is very flexible for those every day sort of emergencies -- like the time my husband smashed his finger and needed a hole punched in it or when you wake up really sick but also does yearly physicals and usually recommends good specialists for follow on care. He also has a nurse practitioner on the staff. The nurses and office staff are helpful without being overly intrusive.

Fairwood Pharmacy has the coolest knickknacks and decorative miscellanea I've ever seen so it makes it a good place to check if you're looking for a last minute gift. At Christmas, they have railroad houses. They have ceramic trays, glass windows, a small collection of clothing and kids toys, a huge variety of unusual cards, plus all the normal pharmacy items including office supplies. The staff is very friendly and prices aren't too bad. Can be slow at checkout.

The Keg Restaurant has excellent steaks, a good salad bar, not bad chicken and sandwiches. The booths are dimly lit so it provides a cosy setting for romantic dates. The staff is well-trained and efficient. They have a good wine list and beer on tap. They are often really busy on Friday and Saturday evenings. I've normally gone there for lunch -- the steak sandwich is a favorite although I can do with out sauteed onions. The parking lot has plenty of room for a large number of diners.

Atomic Battery is one of the collection points for recycling old car batteries. We needed to clear about a dozen or more when we moved into our current house and the folks at Atomic Battery were very friendly to us. I've also bought a couple of their batteries -- they are lower priced then many places and run really well. I didn't notice any difference in their durability. The business is in a hidden sort of place, so be sure to take a map.
