I worked in the building where Finale is located. What a fantastic treat. Their cookies are delicious (oatmeal with golden raisins, white chocoalte macadamia nut) but their desserts are truly works of art. Be prepared to spend about the same that you would for dinner at a casual restaurant. My suggestion is share desserts so you can get a good sampling of everything. Their coffee drinks are great too but don't bother wasting calories on them. Focus on the unbelievable desserts. They have something for everyone from fruit tarts to death by chocolate to pies.

This a beautiful cafe with a nice outside seating area right on Newbury but closer by the Public Garden so it's not so busy. They make amazing espresso and they serve in the prettiest cups and saucers. The inside is also beautiful and the serve authentic gelatto, tiramisu and some other baked goods. My Italian friend swears by this place and I guess she would know best.

This Turkish cafe has a great variety of wrap sandwiches and soups, pizzas and salads. They have two locations and they're equally good in terms of food but they're a tight squeeze so either take it to go or be ready to eat quickly. They also make amazing custom yogurt blends where you pick out your base flavor and then mix in the toppings you like. For the price, Angora can't be beat!

Zaftig is a gem. There are still items that I enjoyed years ago when I was a student in Boston that I continue to try to replicate at home. There's an amazing salad with Feta cheese, golden raisins, toasted pine nut and vinaigrette that is just so good. They have all the typical deli stuff - knishes, meatloaf, soups, sandwiches, blintzes - but the decor is so nice and modern; not the kitschy look. The meals are hearty and perfect for a chilly winter night. Try the meatloaf or roasted chicken. They also have all the usual breakfast items and they serve beer and wine. While you're there, check out the artwork. It's very cool.

The lines always snake out the door at Anna's Taqueria. The burritos are awesome. The prices are just right. It's really casual dining. You order, they prepare it just like you asked and you make your way through the line. They have tacos, burritos and quesadillas and that's pretty much the entire menu. They also have chicken, steak and a few other selections to add to your burrito. I like the Harvard St. location the best. The staff is super friendly too.

The Butcherie has it all and they underwent a nice renovation a few years ago. Their meats are fresh and they have a great selection of kosher products from Israel and around the word. If you shop there close to any major holidays or on Thursday afternoon, beware. It's crowded and people are pushy. They also have great challah and baked goods.

Sarah's Tent is expansive. They have a sidewalk cafe with pizza and sandwiches and a huge store that sells everything from melons to menorahs, grapes to gefilte fish and fresh kosher butcherie items. They carry a great selection of bulk dried fruits and nuts, fresh produce, frozen foods, spices, sauces and pretty much everything else. The store also has a nice prepared foods section and kosher meats. Make sure you check their hours. They close a few hours before shabbat and get pretty crowded on Thursdays and Fridays.

Mangia cafe has great fresh salads. They also have baguette sandwiches, sushi, fresh fruit drinks and a pretty great passover menu. I shared the matza lasagna with my sister and we both enjoyed it. The space is small and the service is not good so if you're in the midtown/downtown area, call ahead for an order to go. They also have all the usual middle eastern sides like humus, baba ganuoush etc. and the prices are reasonable.

Magnificent baked goods, coffees, quiches, salads, sandwiches are all on the menu at La Parisienne. It's clean, charming and richly decorated. The menu is fully dairy and kosher and they prepare desserts by special order too. They sell lots of holiday items that are so much better than the store bought Passover and Rosh Hashana goodies.

The coffee and drinks and desserts are good but the real reason people probably visit Sagafredo is for the people watching. It is just that good. Located on the western end of Lincoln Road, the seating at Sagafredo is divided between the inside of the shop (pretty small) and an area right outside, as well as another area across the walkway under the existing awnings on Lincoln Road. They serve coffee drinks and desserts and if you listen carefully, you'll hear lots of different languages. I don't think they're as flexible about customizing your drink (skim, low fat, soy etc) or maybe they were all out? So be prepared for whole milk drinks.
