NYC loves it's thick, cheese swamped slices. and while there are outposts where you can get a thinner, more delicate slice, none I have seen come close to Kinchley's cracker thin crust.
My Bergen County friends told me to go here if I wanted to experience the ultimate in thin crust pizza. My wife is a big fan of this variety and I have, over the years, been coming around to her point of view. The great thing about thin crust is that the sauce, spices and cheese shine; they are not overwhelmed by the dough. At Kinchley's, that's exactly what happens - you bite into a crispy crust and the satisfying tang of sauce and cheese mix perfectly while you enjoy the crunch. Mmmmm.
This is really good pizza served in an old-time tavern atmosphere. No slices and the pies are small so order a big one and you won't be disappointed.
Very crowded at lunch but worth the wait.

I generally do not get very daring with Chinese food - chicken, shrimp, beef, pork - that's about it. Wah Singh has one of the best chicken with broccoli lunch offerings I have ever had. There are big slices of white chicken and fresh, crisp broccoli swimming in a tasty brown sauce. The pork fried rice is just OK - it gets better if you let it soak up the brown sauce, but then the paper bag the food came in would taste good that way too.
I just had a $5 lunch; lots of food and it was all tasty.
I don't like to tout all-you-can-eat places because of the gluttony angle but this shop has a good buffet and you can go back to the trough as many time as you want. And it's really inexpensive. I see a lot of landscapers in there chowing down. They work all day in the hot sun and can afford to tank up but I think we office workers should use common sense around unlimited food offerings.

We have been going to the Mexican Food Factory for a few years and the quality has been consistent and the menu choices rather ambitious. In my youth, Mexican food was mostly tacos with chips and salsa. But today, my taste has expanded so I expect a little more. This restaurant has all of the regular offerings and spices it up with entrรฉes that expand the Mexican food experience.
For instance, I recently had steak over rice with a side of very good cole slaw and the best corn on the cob I have ever had (seriously, it was amazing).
The side salad, with cilantro laced dressing is a meal in itself. And the chips and dip were home made and fresh.
Like Mexican? Give this restaurant a try. You will not be disappointed.

Quest Diagnostics is generally regarded as the best medical testing company, not just the biggest. But you take for granted that any lab will do the job right - most times, they do. No, it's the little things that this patient service center does that I admire. Actually, it's Margaret the phlebotomist that I love. She is the most gentle and caring person around and she has always been careful that she treats me (a big baby) like the big baby that I am.
Need to take care of your health? Get your tests done here and ask for Margaret. I always do.

It's a little pizza place on the main drag. You might pass it by without a second thought but you would be missing a real find. The pizza is good (but really, in NJ, could you find bad pizza?) but the prepared food is the star. Shrimp, chicken, pasta and veggies all cooked and arrayed before your very eyes. I always get the shrimp and it is consistently fresh with the crisp "bite" that tells you it was never frozen.
We almost always do take out because my niece has kids and they can be a handful when they get tired. The smiles on everyone's face when I come in and tell them I went to Passariello's tells me that I'm the favorite Uncle in the zip code.
Go for pizza, go back again and again to taste the rest of the menu.

OK, they have a fountain so, technically they have water views, but it's not the ocean. Be that as it may, the food was exceptional. I had shrimp and scallops with mashed and salad and I was stuffed like the Christmas Goose! My wife had grilled shrimp with mango salsa and it was fresh and cooked by an expert. The servers were very attentive - especially appreciated since we were with 2 toddlers who needed a nap.
The place was hopping, people milling around outside enjoying a warm spring sunset, but they found a table for 5 with no reservations so we tipped appropriately.
I broke my rule - I had seafood and I could not see or smell the ocean. And I'm glad I did.
Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

After a hard day at Lime Rock race track, we almost always head for the Boathouse for a good meal and a glass of cheer. The menu is ambitious considering their location - 125 miles from NYC and even more miles from Boston and Albany. So it's always a pleasant surprise when you find good fish dishes, respectable beef, well cooked vegetables and attentive service in what could be called an out of the way little town. My steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes seasoned perfectly and served hot. One odd feature is the pair of scissors that come with the outstanding French onion soup - to cut through the cheese, sil vous plait!
With a couple of drafts, my bill was $50 and well worth it.

When this place opened a few years ago, I had high hopes. The menu seems like a stroke of genius - the best local recipes from all over the USA. But the first few times (again way back) the service and quality of the food was not up to the price. But recently, on a very busy restaurant Saturday in town, we were left with The Heritage Grill as a fall back. Still, we had to wait about 15 minutes (a good sign) and while we waited I read the menu from top to bottom. Very promising.
Not to leave you in suspense, the food was quite good. We split the artichoke and shrimp bruschetta - tasty and enough for 2 at $8.95. My wife had the grilled lemon chicken with artichoke and pesto - served over angel hair (no,angel was not our waiter). She pronounced it tasty, well prepared and fairly priced at $12.95. I had the blackened jumbo shrimp and scallops New Orleans style. Good, fresh taste and not out of line at $19.95.
So the food was good and will bring us back for seconds. The room is nicely decorated, if not a little tight for space. Service on a very busy night was slow but the waitress got our orders right and she was attentive afterward (refills on my ice tea were much appreciated).
So I have a new place to dine in Denville - even though it's only new to me.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has it all. Their Egyptian collection is wonderful. Their Arms and Armor hall is a dream scape for kids of all ages. Their Medieval collection - especially the amazing Cloisters up town - can't be beat.
From their collections of every school of painting to Greek and Roman sculpture and everything in between -you can fill up your culture cup here, right up to the brim.
What I love best? Location, location, location - situated on museum mile smack inside Central Park, it's a haven from the hectic and uncivilized world in which we live. A beautiful reminder that life can be more than pandering to the least common denominator.
When I was a college student (think Nixon Administration) this was the best date spot. Show the lady your sensitive side, stroll through the park. Grab a spot on the Great Lawn and then - play kissy face!
I even got one of my few A's by writing a paper on their Kouros (an amazing sculpture from the Greeks).
Arguably one of the world's best art museums. You need to go if you are in the City. (Secret - at Christmas, they have an amazing display of Medieval decorations - you need to go.)

I used to be a trainer at my old company on something called Quality Toward Excellence. Part of the class was a video by Tom Peters (a famous quality guru) and in it he touted Nordstrom for their famous quality and best all around service. At the time, we didn't have a Nordstrom in the state. However, a few years later, one opened at my favorite mall and I have been a dedicated shopper ever since.
I mostly shop for shoes because their sales people are expert at what they do but I have also become a regular at the grooming counter. Last year they had stylists from a famous NYC salon (John Allen) set up shop and give free haircuts, shoe shines and manicures. It was amazing - the best haircut I ever had (did I mention free?).
Recently, I bought a great moisturizer that I can't find anywhere else. A day or two later, the sales rep had sent me a handwritten thank you note. Geeze, I don't get thank you notes from anyone and I get one from my Nordstrom sales rep!
As long as I have money and a need to shop, I will always be a Nordstrom customer.
