I found out about La Terraza when the Scene featured its signature fish dish -- a whole deep-fried tilapia -- on the cover of its annual dining issue a few years ago. Every time I go, I have to order the tilapia. It's just so good! Flaky fish, crisp skin, served with warm flour tortillas, jalapenos and pico de gallo. My husband always gets the Mariscada, several seafood dishes -- shrimp and cheese quesadillas and two different citrusy seviches.
On Friday and Saturday nights, they have a mariachi band. It's a dad and his three kids; they are talented and really charming. The atmosphere at La Terraza is lighthearted, noisy and good for both families and singles.
