this place is one of the less expensive in the neighborhood according to my wife. but for good reason, its very hit or miss. lets get it straight, shes never come out looking like sinead oconnor or anything but shes definitely come home bummed out at the less than perfect job theyve done. but on occasion they get it right too. frankly, i think its worth paying up not to have someone mess with it. i'm trying to steer her away from this place so she stops taking my baseball hat...

i came back from a trip to turkey and had a craving for adana kebabs like you read about. and since i like to be adventurous in the kitchen i figured i'd give it a try myself. but i couldnt find any of the ingredients til someone steered me this way. their spice selection is better than you would find in any middle eastern bazaar. they have good cookiig supplies and even a cafe if you get worn out from shopping. if you are planning on doingn any type of cooking relating to the middle east this store is a must.

it looks like any other supermarket to me. i thought that they would have alot of amish offerings but its like any other high end grocery market. prices are definitley more expensive than what you can find at food emporium and alot of the offerings are the same. the one thing worth noting is that the food buffet salad bar thing is not a total gross out like you find in alot of ordinary corner delis.

this place is in the heart of the furniture district but the prices are a fraction of what you'll find elsewhere. i just bought a mirror from this place for probably 1/2 to 1/3 of what i could have found it for elsewhere - one of those tall, floor mirrors. i dont see why you'd buy a superexpensive one. i am just as hideous looking in the more expensive ones. the store feels real shlocky inside. they have alot of couches. at some level i suspect you get lesser quality but for things like mirrors i cant see how theres a real difference

i know people are always saying this or that is the best ever which reduces the potency of that statemnt. however, when i say it i mean it. these cookies are hands down beyond compare. i am a die hard chocohalic and this is like a godsend for me. if i lived in the neighborhood i would definitely be a fat bastige as these things must contain over 1000 calories each. but they are so worth it. the regular chocolate chip is good, but nothing like the double choc chip or the ph choc chipper.

but finally went inside after i ate some killer cookies and found out they were from this place. the cookies rivaled levain bakery (for whom i am about to write another review). i would definitely recommend this place for a catering job - they put together a pretty mean platter. i will update more when i scarf down more of their offerings but it all looks real good.

buttercup is ok. i live in the neighborhood, but i wish i lived in the west village. they have alot of overlap with magnolia but not as much variety as i would like. theres a ton of cupcakes...
