I've used this service numerous times. It's about what you expect from a limo service in the New York area. A towncar of varying quality, late model, old school. Typically clean, often smelling of leather and incense with some sort of thing dangling from the miror. The drivers were always courteous, knowledgable, and typically early which is a nice bonus when you are traveling to the airport. The best part about the tel aviv car company is that you will never forget the number even when you are on the red-eye back to the city and stumble in at 6am.

The only thing to make this a bad experience for the cost is a crazy captain! And since the odds of that are slim, well the Staten Island Ferry is simply perfect! Ride back and forth all day between the south tip of Manhattan and Staten Island while drinking a cool brewskie, and taking in the best of people watching. If you have guests and no money to spend on them, this is the best thing to do on a nice day!

If you have lived in New York City for any length of time, you will have seen a Carmel ad somewhere, and probably the big sign they have being pulled by some truck up and down the avenues and streets. They are certainly budget, sometimes the cars look pretty beat up when they arrive, but they are dependably and reasonable. When you are going to Newark Airport at 6 30 in the morning, do you really care what you are riding in if you know you will get to the airport on time?

I've spent endless hours browsing computer stores searching for software, prices on LCDs, computers, etc. When what you are looking for isn't exactly mainstream, and you need someone who is at least familiar with what a motherboard is you might want to head down to datavision on 5th avenue. 3 floors packed to the gills with computer gear from the decidedly mainstream vaio and mac with the big monitors to the power supplies, motherboards, and firewire hard drives in the basement. They have a substantial software inventory on the third floor though it does feel a bit ignored. I think the sales people (who seem to be commissioned) are more interested in getting you to drop the big money on the main floor for the 24" mac monitors. That said if you need an alternative to the mainstream it's worth a shot.
