This place is good for those looking to go out without reservations. . They have a great selection of seafood dishes. Take advantage of the oyster sampler, and make sure not to miss the mussels dish, both delish! Specialty drinks are good, though I would have liked a better selection of house wines, they only seemed to have fruity sweet whites.
They have a great lounge area with good discreet people watching since they are on the corner and have big windows. Outdoor seating is available as well.

I haven't eaten any food here, but I have taken advantage of their frozen margarita happy hour. This place has wonderful outdoor seating at the World Wide Plaza- looking into the courtyard and fountain. The drinks packed a punch, but I am not sure I would try the margaritas again; both me
and my date felt queasy later, and we didn't have more than one each. (What kind of tequilla do they use?).

If you happen to want a diner with incredible kitsch and campy entertainment, Ellen's Stardust Diner is the place to go. Brimming with tourists who can't get enough of that Broadway feel, this place oozes cheese. The waitstaff are Bway wannabees who in between taking meal orders, sing standards. The food is extra high priced diner cuisine, but don't expect the service to equal the cost since the singers are serving in between performances.

Gigantic. This is a big museum. I say this because you can't do it all in one day. Make a plan, pick a wing, choose some art. Go find it, enjoy, relax. Maybe hit the cafeteria (which I don't really recommend unless you've spent too much time in the museum already and are ready to faint from exhaustion). Buy a membership to this museum and visit it again and again, an amazing museum well worth the visit. I repeat the best advice I can give is choose the art you want to enjoy because after the first 3 hours you won't be enjoying anything but aching feet and dry mouth.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright it's a landmark and a work of art all without the art you'll find inside. The three things I love the most about the Guggenheim. 1. It's the perfect size for an art museum, by the time you start to feel the art fatigue and eye strain of too much museum you are just approaching the exit. 2. As designed by Mr. Wright watching the people looking at art and gazing across the spiraling building is as much a part of the process as the art. 3. Riding the elevator to the top and strolling idly down (instead of toiling up the hill the whole way).
The perfect museum for tourist and New Yorker alike.

This place was built on a fun premise. "Give us what you don't want and we will sell it". The guy who runs it, well he is very social and loves his shop. There are all kinds of interesting things inside, from furniture to clothes to knick knacks. If you are wandering around 10th Ave, this will bring a smile to your face, if only for the 5 minutes it takes to go in and out of it.

This little nook is a nice break from the typical blown out st. marks place atmosphere. It's a quiet little oasis away from the punks and the piercings. Inside you'll find textiles from Tibet, knit hats and gloves, lovely scarves, prayer cloths, some jewelry, singing bowls, and lovely quiet sales people who I have no doubt are really from tibet. Nothing earth shatteringly original here but if the ethnic goods of tibet are a draw for you seek it out next time you're near to Saint Marks Place

Studio 55 is a great place to pick up a pair of shoes on the shoe store laden 8th street where you can find a lot of shoes in a very short amount of time. Their sale items are often an outright steal, and unlike a lot of stores they actually have the sale items in normal sizes (10s and 11s for men, and 6-8 for women). They also carry some of the lesser known up and coming brands like the new hotness DetNY brand. Go in and ask for em by name.
