This is one of the better sushi places I have eaten at. They serve everything fresh in little cute boxes. The prices for dinner can be a bit expensive. However, their lunch has better prices and deals. The atmosphere is very nice and friendly. Definitely have to try the rainbow rolls and tiger rolls. If you're not much of a sushi fan, try the teriyaki beef or chicken. And if you're looking for a steal, try the california roll lunch special at 8 dollars which comes with rice, soup, salad, and potato salad.

Cafe Bizou is a very fancy restaurant with casual prices. Almost everything on the menu is under twenty dollars. The best part is that you can bring your own bottle of wine and they'll only charge the $2 dollar corkage fee. That beats paying triple the price of wines in other restaurants. They have wonderful seafood dishes and the best thing is their dollar soup! The only down side to the restaurant has to be their customer service. Although the food is great, the service is on the need improvement side. On slower days, the service is okay, but on Saturdays, if you do not have a reservation, you should hit the road because this place is hectic. You'll have to wait forever just for a seat and the wait staff seems to disappear on you.

Even though 21 Choices sounds like a knockoff of Baskin Robbin's 31 flavors, it isn't. 21 Choices has the best soft serve and frozen yogurt. They have very unique flavors and even sugar free flavors. The price is a little high for ice cream, but it's worth the splurge. It definitely gets crowded a lot and I've heard celebrities drop by a lot even though I've never seen one myself. If you don't mind the line, then you should definitely try the kahlua oreo mudslide, circus animal cookie, and malibu coconut.

Fosselman's Ice Cream has been in business for a very long time. They're a little cute ice cream shop on Main St. in Alhambra. There was a huge line inside the store, but the ice cream was so infamous, I had to try. The ice cream is very rich. I had the strawberry and my friend had the mint chocolate chip. Both were very decadent. In addition to their cones, they also have prepackaged pints.

Even though you have to pay for valet parking and probably have to wait in line, El Cholo has some of the best drinks in town. Their margaritas are the best. Even though the drinks are more pricey than other places, nobody and I mean NOBODY can make them better. The food is also pretty good. They have delicious green corn tamales, nachos, and blue corn enchiladas.

Even though they claim to have the best cubano, to be honest, I've had better. The cubano I had was just a slice of ham inside a roll. However, even though I went there for the cubano, I stayed for their desserts and potato balls which are delicious. They offer so many sweets that they even dedicate a whole room to cakes. The bakery/cafe side is just as busy as the cake room. The cheesecake is delicious as well as the tres leches cake.

In a city engulfed with Chinese restaurants everywhere and only pizza huts and papa johns as the closest thing to Italian, Petrillo's definitely has the best Italian cuisine, particularly the pizza. They offer antipasta, pasta dishes like lasagna, but what they're known for is the pizza. The pizzas are baked fresh which is why it might take a while. I am a traditionalist and had a medium sausage and mushroom pizza. It was not your typical medium pizza. This thing is huge and it couldn't even be finished among four people. The cool part is the way the cut the pizza. It's not in slices - it's in squares.

Probably the only place in Chinatown/downtown where you'll find free parking, Philippe's offers their famous french dip. You can choose to single or double dip your sandwich. They have meats to choose from such as beef, lamb, turkey and pork. I didn't try the beef because I am not allowed to eat red meat, but the turkey was okay. I guess if you're going to have a french dip, get a french dip! They also have 9 cent coffee and desserts like cheesecake. The atmosphere is pretty cool - they have saw dust all over the floor and old fashioned telephone booths and old fashioned water dispensers. It is definitely a great experience.

I've actually been here a couple of times and two out of three times, the service was bad. The owners are actually Korean - not Japanese - so maybe that's why the food wasn't authentic (they don't even have miso soup!). They have ads claiming 1/2 price sushi, but it's only for california rolls and the other cheaper rolls. I guess that's okay since the only thing decent there is the california rolls.

This restaurant offers very authentic Mexican cuisine. You may think it's expensive because of the live mariachi band and authentic cuisine, but prices are very low. In fact, kids even eat free and if your birthday lands on Monday through Thursday, you get a free meal and free mananita (cake)! I don't even know any chains that give free meals on your birthday. They have buffets for only 6.99. I think Sunday brunch is a little more expensive, but they have more options. Defintely try the tostadas, monterey chicken, pollo sabana, and molcajete grill.
