A fine selection of German brews all year long. Good sausage and burgers, but they tend to oversalt the fries. They have a resonably nice patio, but it's small and tends to fill up quick on the weends. Good choice for beer if you aren't fond of smoke. Prices are reasonable, and they have some good specials.

University Teriyaki has a pretty good price.quality ratio. They try to diversity into Chinese and Korean, but in general, these are not worth the effort. The spicy chicken and beef are decent for the price. Good seating space and speedy service are good for quick eats on a weekday if you are around the university. Remember that parking on the Ave. is hard to find though.

Not your average Mexican food. Some Oaxacan influrence. Try the boniato (yam) or nopalitos(cactus) tacos for something interesting. Best balcony in the University District with unobstructed views of the bay. All the alcohol is way overpriced, but the tuna-rita is a good choice if you must. It switches from Cafe to sit-down at about 4:30 in the afternoon.

Some of the best Thai food on the ave. The Tom Yum and Tom Kha soup are excellent,. Serving size is impressive and I have not been let down by any of the menu items I have sampled to date. Seating space is small, but not quite as bad as Thai Tom's down the street. Arrive early unless you like to stand.

Frequented by many of the students of the nearby University of Washington, the College Inn Pub sports a collection of mediocre bar food but a decent beer selection. Crowded during the school year, vacant during the summer. It's downstairs, so don't expect much sunlight, but that shouldn't matter for seattle anyways.
