The staff is willing to help you, if you can find them - they tend to leave you alone. There are a couple of cozy reading nooks and a wood stove. Prices are about what you would expect to pay.

A lot of the old books and records are arranged on the shelves totally randomly, which might drive some people crazy, but can lead to very interesting discoveries. For years they have kept a rack of free books on a shelf outside the store. Check it out.

As the name might indicate, they specialize in oysters, serving several different varieties, including local ones from beds right below the restaurant. Conway is in the heart of Skagit Valley farm country and the Conway pub is the heart of the town. It's a great blend of old time and modern. They have pool tables and shuffleboard, the best burgers around, and from time to time they have live music, including impromptu jazz jams. I was there one Sunday and a small group was playing, when this guy drove up on a pea viner - that's a huge piece of farm equipment - walked in with his saxophone, and joined in for a short set before heading off on his pea viner. Unbelievable.

These folks have, in a small area, quite a good selection of plants, ornamentals, fruit trees, etc. They also have bulk supplies of bark, topsoil, and other landscaping supplies. The service is friendly and the prices are good.The only drawback is that it can be hard to get out of the parking lot if the traffic is heavy.

I used to really like taking my car to these guys for its regular service. Then they left my oil plug out. I caught it before any damage was done, and had liked them well enough to give them the benefit of the doubt and go back. Then they left my oil plug out again. Again, I caught it before there was any damage, but I haven't been back since. Too bad, because the prices were good, the service was good, and a complete car wash was included in the price. My car doesn't get washed so often any more.
