Irvine is random in that you can find these amazing places in the middle of huge business buildings. Bistango is exactly that. It is an amazing restaurant and you will forget you are in the middle of Industrial park, USA. I honestly think it has the best food in Southern California. The quality and presentation of the food is perfect, and the service is also wonderful. If I were rich I'd eat here every week.

A beautiful oasis in La Jolla, this hotel met and went beyond every expectation. The second you walk the grounds of this Spanish rancho style resort, you will sink into a deep relaxation. The pool is warm and nice with personal cabanas for privacy. The jacuzzi was not crowded and there was a fireplace to dry off by in the evening. Our room was wonderful. A huge bed with piles of bedding, a lovely marble bathroom, and a balcony with a gorgeous view of the courtyard made it so romantic. The service was also impeccable. Our in-room breakfast was wheeled in on a table complete with white tablecloth and set out in front of the balcony. The food was also great with delicious, ample portions. We received a nice, personalized welcome note at check-in and the staff really worked hard to make our stay perfect. They also offer a full service spa. This is a wonderful place to vacation.

Trying to to treat ourselves to a nice dinner in Old Town San Diego turned into a disaster. This is a spruced up tequileria that charges between $25-30 for an entree, which wouldn't be so terrible if we actually received decent service and good food. Once you've waited 20 minutes for someone to take your drink order, you begin to understand why they have so much tequila. You're going to need it. We received the worst treatment I've ever had in my life. The other tables around us were seated and served and gone before we even received our drinks. It took over an hour and a half to receive our entrees, which were not worth the amount of money and time we spent for them. Though the restaurant wasn't terribly busy, our waiter ignored us to the point where we nearly walked out without paying the bill. Overall, a terrible dining experience, please do not waste your time.

This is a great place to take your Honda if you drive one, or if you are looking to buy-- it also has a large dealership. I always get excellent, friendly service and good prices. Hassle-free, quick and efficient, these guys are very good. Some people say all a girl needs in life is a good mechanic, so I guess I have it made.

I hate to bash a restaurant, but if you are ever in Irvine, do not waste your money here. It lures people in by the nice decor and patio, but the service is terrible and the menu is stunted. The waitress both times I went (the second time was not my choice) was rude and slow, and the food was definitely not worth the high prices. The only draw is there are few customers, but that may be for a reason.

For delicious, authentic Korean food, this is the place to go. Nicely decorated but not too fancy, and wonderful prices make this a weekly dining experience for those who live nearby and who enjoy those fiery Korean flavors. All the Korean appetizers are served that one would expect as well as typical Korean entrees. I recommend the Galbi (beef spare ribs--great to roll in lettuce leaves with garlic), dueji-gogi (spicy pork) and dok-boki (thick rice noodles in hot red pepper sauce). Yum!

If you are ever visiting the wine country in Northern California, this is the place to eat. A gorgeous little restaurant and inn nestled in a vineyard makes you feel like you are in an Italian villa. The best place to dine is outside on the patio (weather permitting) where you will be 20 feet from a vineyard looking out on a sunset to then view the stars over dessert. Not only is the ambience lush and romantic, but the food is delectable. They offer a wide variety of specials, everything is incredibly fresh, the wine list is of course exquisite, and chef Jeff Madura will create a plate that is as artistic as it is delicious. This is one of the best dining experiences California has to offer. Located about an hour north of San Francisco right off the freeway, it is definitely worth the drive.

For authentic, delicious, well-priced Chinese, Sam Woo is the place to go. The restaurant has an amazing, fresh seafood selection (the lobsters are swimming next to your table) while the laid-back cafe next door focuses on more traditional Chinese dishes. Whatever you choose will be amazing, but beware the temptation to eat until you need a wheelbarrow to cart you out of the restaurant. The plates come with heaping portions and are so good it is hard to stop. The BBQ pork is delightful. Also has take-out if you don't mind waiting in line.
