Underground art is the coolest! And the one good place in town to find it is here at Roq La Rue. The owner definitely has her finger on the pulse of the lowbrow hipster art scene. Her shows constantly bring in the wildest selection of artists. Breaking ground as an alternative to the staid Pioneer Square set, Roq La Rue feeds a need for art for those of us who want nothing to do with the boring white wine and watercolors offered other places. The opening nights of the shows generally provide a rare chance to meet some really cool artists and commune with like-minded citizens of Seattle. You will always leave Roq La Rue with your yen for mind-bending art sated.

This store is the best place in the world as far as my husband is concerned. I am only a sometime drinker of beer, and even I love the store. The staff are often funny and more like the friendly neighborhood bartender than a store cashier. This is the best place to hit before a bbq or a party and an even better place to hit for a gift for those hard to buy for guys on your list. Just about any imaginable beer is on the shelves here. It is fun to just browse the shelves and see what they have to offer. In addition to beer they also offer glasses to drink the beer in, t-shirts, and the perfect complement to a good beer---gourmet chocolate. On a summer day, they also have what seems to be more essential lately in Seattle, air-conditioning. Their window displays are always a kick in the pants too. Stop by here next time you need beer and you never know what kind of beer you might end up buying. Wallingford is happy to have this store in the neighborhood!

After searching at a few different fancy "upscale" boutiques for a wedding gown, I went to I Do Bridal because it was down the street from my house. What a wonderful find! I wished I had never wasted my time going anywhere else. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Unlike other bridal gown shops, I never felt condescended towards by the staff. I also never felt like bait on a hook, which is a nice factor in a business that is usually commission driven. The selection is wonderful and ranges from affordable to pricier. There is a bridal gown to suit any bride's taste here. In addition, there is a great selection of bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, shoes, veils and headpieces, etc. I would advise any bride to check here first when looking for their gown, you may find you will not need to go anywhere else. It really offers everything you would want as a bride. I visited the store several times before making the decision on exactly what gown I wanted to wear on my wedding day and was welcomed every time by the lovely staff. We also found the bridesmaid dresses there. I Do Bridal is a great neighborhood gem!

I always head there when I have a kid's birthday party coming up because I can always find something that I know will be well loved and played with. No junk toys here! The selection is predominantly "educational" and geared towards playing with imagination. The age range for the toys starts with tiny babies and goes on up from there. You can find games, books, stuffed animals, dress up clothes, puzzles, Playmobil figurines, art supplies, and so much more than would be possible to list here. You can also find cards to go along with any toys you would be buying as gifts. The really great thing about Imagination toys is the staff. You will always be greeted by a friendly face willing to help if you need direction throughout the store or in selecting an item. Kids at heart themselves, the staff make this toy store a fun place to buy toys. And you are supporting a local, independent business, what could be better!

What a fun place to visit! Bella Cosa is a cute, intimate gourmet grocery that also offers a small selection of pannini and espresso. The shelves in the front of the store are filled with mouth-watering pastas, oils, sauces, chocolate, baking mixes, breads, cheese, meats and wines. The back of the store displays beautiful Italian pottery, wonderful tools to add to your kitchen and other wares. The crisp and clean atmosphere is inviting and welcoming. The staff is so friendly and make you feel at home. Browse the shelves while waiting for your latte and you will tempted to bring a beautiful Italian platter home or some lovely wine or dainty pasta. Bella Cosa is a great place to pick up some offerings for a night of cocktails with friends and would also be a lovely place to put together a gift basket for a loved one. Wallingford is so happy to have Bella Cosa here in the neighborhood. Visit soon and you will not be disappointed!

The used items change all the time and you can really find just about anything for your child. There is a great selection of toys and games, gear such as diaper covers, bottles, child safety stuff like gates and cupboard locks, bed rails, strollers, high chairs, bouncy seats. And racks of clothes are bursting at the seams with their offerings. Literally every corner rewards you another surprise. I would never buy something new for my child without checking this store a few times to see if I could find it there first. Not only is there a well stocked and regularly rotating selection of clothing, jewelry, handbags, and shoes, the store also offers an interesting array of furniture, dishes, picture frames and other beautiful vintage wares. I have yet to visit the store without finding something I liked and always have fun looking around. The vintage clothing is very unique and the current styles often include those boutique brands that break the bank when new. This is the best place to get those designer jeans you have been lusting after but just can't quite pull off because the hit to the wallet is too much. The prices here are reasonable on every item. There is even a sale rack for those hunting for even more of a bargain. The atmosphere is welcoming and intimate, with the owners being very friendly and accessible. Expect to be accompanied at some point by a sweet cat who complements the environment perfectly. The topper is you can also consign your clothes and accessories there. What better way to be "out with the old and in with the new"----to you.

This small and cozy children's bookstore has much to offer in its intimate atmosphere. All the classics are available, i.e. Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss, Maurice Sendak, and lots of new classics like Maisy the Mouse and others. The selection is organized in such a way to make it easy to find a particular subject matter or type of book or to find a book appropriate for a particular age. In addition to lots of new selections, there is a lovely selection of used and even vintage books. You will also find a small selection of adult fiction and non fiction and parenting/pregnancy books. And if you needed another reason to visit this lovely bookstore, you should know they are independently owned, making them a good place to spend your hard-earned dollar. Add to this a knowledgeable and concerned person at the counter to help you and you really have the perfect place to find children's books.
