Rude... and a better one is across the street! 6/12/2006

I'm a devout gamer. Yes, I play video games like they are going out of style. I compose reviews about them, I buy them with the last vestiges of the paychecks... you get my point. I have a problem. So part of my husband and I's bum-around days is to wander aimlessly through trade-in stores to see if any of the rarer games we are looking for have shown up. Or to peruse new releases. For this particular store, it was looking for a release of the latest expansion of Ultima Online; which came out last November. The scenario: we went into the store, which is in the same plaza as Best Buy (not the store in the actual mall, which is also a Gamestop), and looked around the shelves a bit. After a few moments and not finding what we were looking for, my husband and I asked the teenage-to-early twenties clerks if they had any of the games in stock. We were going to buy two copies. The first literally rolled his eyes. The second said, rather rudely, that they don't normally handle "computer" games, they focus more on console titles (aka, Playstation 2, Gamecube, etc.), and they would not be getting any copies of Ultima Online in the store. This of course seemed odd, since we knew the other Gamestop in Macedonia had a copy. However, given how they treated us like we were idiots, we didn't press the issue, and simply left the store. To this day, we have not gone back. It is a bit more of a pain to find a parking spot and walk through the mall to the other store, but the staff in that one is funny and knows us almost personally. If you need to get a game, save yourself the hassle and go into the mall. The prices are exactly the same, and the staff is a LOT nicer. more
