Made famous by the Schultz and Dooley beer commercials from the early days of TV, the Matt Brewery has evolved in recent years with the constant improvement and additions to its Saranac beer line. They produce a very wide array of brews, from March (Maerzen) beer to a signature Christmas brew, and from Belgian Whites to Black Forest stouts. The most famous (and most easy to find) option is the decent Saranac Pale Ale, but for the real treat, try any of the other special variations of the Saranac line. My favorites are the India Pale Ale, the Black Forest and any of the beers in the incredibly hard-to-find 12 Beers of Summer Collection.

The Toledo Mud Hens are more than a minor league baseball club. This franchise is the pride of Toledo, Ohio. The games are often very full and it is hard to get good seats. While the quality of play differs from year to year, it is certain that the fan events will keep even a one-time visitor entertained. You can even forgo the price of admission by eating in one of the eateries that have a direct view of the park or by simply taking advantage of the see-through fence behind right field. Games can also be seen from nearby hotels.

One of San Francisco's main attractions, this infamous island-prison tour lets you experience how the inmates here lived. You can visit cells, while a tour guide explains the history and the stories behind the prison itself, and some of it most (in)famous residents. Special attention is given to the legendary single successful escape from the island prison, and, naturally, to Al Capone, its most famous inmate. Another obvious benefit are the wonderful views of the San Fransisco skyline and of the Golden Gate bridge.
All in all, the tour is informative and this is certainly a must-see in San Francisco. The drawbacks are that you are on the boat's schedule as far as the return trip is concerned.

This delightful house was the house of Daniel Chester French, one of America's most prominent sculptors. The museum traces the artist's work from lesser known commissions to his most famous one, the statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The museum is well organized, and the work and history of Mr. French are very well presented. Most importantly, as this was the artist's own private residence, one gets a glimpse into how the artist lived and worked, and especially the grand scale that his projects were done on.
