Tajine is a tiny Moroccan restaurant in the heart of the Tenderloin, with the friendliest owner and waitstaff. The food is excellent too, and very well priced.
Try their chicken bastilla, very generously portioned kebabs, and tajine stews. The absolute best is their sweetened mint tea (get the large, it's only $3.50) served in a traditional silver teapot.
This place is not good for groups of more than 4, and the wait may be long since the restaurant really is tiny. I think the whole restaurant may have about 6 tables.

Super Tokio on Clement Street is a Japanese/Chinese food store with an entire side wall dedicated to cute and tasty Asian candies and snacks. This place is heaven for both kids and adults! They have a huge variety of gummy candies, hard candies, gum, Pocky, Pretz, dried sweet and sour fruits, etc that can be difficult to find elsewhere. They also have a nice selection of asian drinks like aloe vera juice with little chunks of aloe vera floating in it, yogurt drinks, and different types of sodas. Lots of other grocery store items, and some household goods. But their candy wall- just awesome.

The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate park is one of the quieter tourist sites in the city, but is still not to be missed. While a bit small, the grounds are beautiful and well kept. The atmosphere is serene and it's a nice little place to walk through or to take a break from the rest of the city. I always stop and get a pot of green tea and some crackers at the little tea house in the center of the gardens. The view is fabulous, with an overlook of the koi ponds and gardens.

Tevana is a small tea cafe/shop with only 3 locations in the entire bay area. They seem to be modeled after Starbucks, with not a whole lot of seating and mostly to go orders of tea. The number and types of tea that are sold is impressive, including white, green, oolong, black, rooibos, and fruit flavors. All of these types have a few different options with different added fruits and flavors. All of it is brewed on the spot with options of with or without sugar, on the rocks, in a pot or in regular or large sized cups. A regular is only $2. Aside from the teas sold in bulk, they also sell organic honey, mugs, Japanese and Chinese teapots and tea sets.

I visited the M H De Young during the grand re-opening weekend event they had last year, and it was really great. Really, what's better than wandering through a museum at 3 AM with a dj spinning on the ground floor?
I much enjoyed all of the exhibits at the De Young, which include early American paintings and furniture as well as sculptures and carvings from South America, Africa, and indigenous cultures thorughout the world. I also enjoyed looking at the beautiful display of vintage ball gowns, photography from the depression era, and some of the modern art on display.
Each exhibit is displayed in the spacious rooms of the new building, which really is art in itself.
The gift shop is also really nice, with 2 floors of books, gadgets, toys, art pieces, jewelery, and household items.
The food at the De Young cafe is a nice fusion of California style and comfort food, and I highly approve of their salads and mac & cheese.

I'll add my review in agreement that Bebe is overpriced for what it is, which isn't much. Most of their dressy clothes are too slinky and revealing for me as well as expensive(!), and their basics are just plain tees and hoodies with BEBE in big rhinestone letters on the front. I'm not into the free advertising of brands on my clothing and I'd much rather go to Forever 21 for the same quality, better styles, and better price.

For the price, I prefer Limon over Fresca when dining Peruvian. I ate there awhile back before the place changed hands so I don't know what it's like now, but I thought the food was just okay. I enjoyed their ceviche but it wasn't the best I'd had, and their signature rotisserie grilled chicken was too dry for my tastes.

I've only been to their location on New Montgomery Street and I have to say that I was really disappointed in my meal. I ordered the chicken burrito and my chicken was so blackened and charred that my entire burrito had a horrible burnt aftertaste to it. I couldn't eat it so I told the guy what was wrong with it and he looked at me like I was crazy. He did exchange my burrito for a vegetarian one, which was filled with pilaf and beans but didn't have much taste.
I think I'll stick to my mission burritos, El Farolito in particular. No comparision.

I used to come here on field trips as a kid, and I went back recently for the first time and it was just as fun! They have an impressive number of hands-on exhibits that deal with all aspects of science: plants, animals, genetics, physics, chemistry, etc. It's a great place to take your kids as they'll learn a ton and have fun doing so too. I loved the shadow box and the oversized bubble makers when I was a fourth grader, and was happy to still see both things still around.
There is free admission on the first Wednesday of the month.
