Service has always been friendly, and the drinks are wonderful. They make the best chai tea I have found in the Twin Cities--creamy and smooth, with some sweetness and spice. The ambiance is nice, and they do have parking available behind the building. There is often an eclectic blend of people inside, which can make for some interesting people-watching.

The service wasn’t overly friendly, but it was obvious they take the job seriously. The work was done before promised, and exceeded my expectations.

Not only are the sandwiches freshly-made and very tasty, they are quite inexpensive! This place is a gem. The sandwiches are my favorite, although the spring rolls are quite good as well. The sandwiches are a great size and price for a quick picnic to go. Last time I was there, a sandwich was just under $3. The staff and service are very friendly, and always welcoming and helpful. Vietnamese sandwiches are not your basic sub shop special--fresh, flavorful ingredients, and good bread make them unique. Watch out for the hot pepper that they put in each one. They are hot!

Wolfe Park has a nice pavilion building that can be rented/reserved in advance. We recently held a company picnic there, and it was perfect. It has bathrooms, and plenty of indoor space, in case of inclement weather. There is plenty of space surrounding the pavilion, for outdoor games, or just plain relaxing. There is also a playground very near, offering entertainment and fun for kids. The glass-enclosed pavilion features a fireplace and is open year round. It can seat 30 people and is available for birthday parties and small group events.

Most of the Thai food I’ve had has been spicy, but Tum Rup takes a different spin on spice and flavor. I tried some of my favorite Thai dishes so I could compare them to other Thai in the Twin Cities, and they were more subtle, and less spicy. Subtle does not mean boring or flavorless, but instead that it seems that the food is prepared to highlight the nuances of flavor in each dish. I did order one dish mildly spicy, and it certainly did have plenty of heat. So, they can make it spicy, if you would like it that way.

Pizza Luce has great options for those with allergies or food sensitivities. One of few places in the Twin Cities that offers a non-dairy “cheese” topping. Pizza is probably not going to ever be considered health food, but Pizza Luce has such a wide variety of topping options, making it more palatable if you want to eat a somewhat less fatty or meaty pizza. The vegetables have always been fresh and tasty. They also have sandwiches, and other items, and their delivery area is pretty reasonable. “The Luce” is my favorite of the house pizzas—highly recommended!

Depending on the size of your group, you may have a table to yourself, but you may be seated with another party of diners—while this may be uncomfortable for some who expect privacy, the social aspect of this type of dining can be very enjoyable. They have a deal on sushi, but I’d call the restaurant to check on which night. They have a special, dedicated sushi stream, where you pay for an hour, and pull up a chair next to the river, and the sushi floats by on little rafts. Very good sushi, and a fun way to dine. Highly recommended if you are looking for something different. It is on the more expensive side, but well worth it for a special evening.

While I hope that I never need to return to AEVS, they are a great resource if in urgent need of animal care after hours. It is somewhat expensive, but so is an ER visit for a human. The place is clean, and well-run. They are sometimes quite busy, but they are very fair in deciding which pet needs to be seen next. Obviously, this isn’t intended to be your regular veterinarian, but for a pet who becomes ill or injured outside of normal business hours, AEVS is the place to take them. The caregivers and staff are competent and thorough, and very clearly explained my options to me--which tests they recommended and why. The main office is in Eden Prairie, but I have only been to the Golden Valley office. They also have offices in Coon Rapids and St. Cloud.

They have a retail front inside Marshall Fields on the mall, but they also have a warehouse and customer design studio. The customer design studio was fantastic for putting together arrangements for a friend’s wedding. The flowers looked great, and they have a space, with supplies, for assembling arrangements. Their flowers are fresh, and they have a very nice selection.
