We found the Cookhouse on a lark and have been addicted ever since! With a full menu of tasty items, there is something for every taste and appetite.
The meats - ribs, steaks, chicken, pulled pork, etc, are so succulent. You don't even need a steak knife to cut the filet mignon, it is that tender! Many restaurants say that, but at Cookhouse it is true.
The 'hot sauce" comes in several variations, ranging from mild to very hot.
The sides are delicious and generous - beer battered onion rings, hush puppies, and other southern favorites that are rarely done well up north.
I was especially impressed with the family meal. Four people for $59.95, each additional person is $14.95 I believe. You choose three meats, and get one side for every two people, everything is family style and family size portions. Included is their amazing corn bread and biscuits. I think their is also another item in the family deal. You can pick ribs twice for alittle extra, and not that you will need more food, but a bottomless salad for $1.99.
The atmosphere is enjoyable, and the food accomodates many tastes - from your most refined friend or business associate who would like a filet mignon to your down home southern friend who would like some ribs, hush puppies, and food that make you want to lick the sauce off your fingers.

Long before the internet, Edge Of The Woods
was the one place in the area that you could find foods if you had a gluten problem, where a diabetic could find sugar free snacks that actually tasted good, carob brownies that tasted like chocolate brownies, loose tea leaves that were fresh and available by the pound - much like the estate teas but way cheaper. Many people who wanted certain herbs or vitamins or teas could find them here. If you have certain health concerns or issues, many cancer patients, diabetics and others find some of the alternative treatment foods and supplements that you can hardly find anywhere else. Fresh veggies and vegan food, they have also added a prepared food section that even a twinkie loving person can find something healthy and good for you that still tastes good if you are super picky.
Prices are exceptionally reasonable in light of the items you can find here. If you have any food restrictions or want to eat healthier or feed your kids foods without excess chemicals and additives, Edge Of The Woods is the place.
Additionally, if you are trying to follow the Perricone diet or similar skin and beauty based eating habits, many of the unusual to find items are available here. (The C ester, etc, cheaper than it is available in beauty stores)

Pampering and rejuvenating services in a cozy bright atmosphere. They have massage therapists that do hot rock therapy to deep tissue, Swedish massage, foot reflexology, pregnancy massage, reiki, maya-fascial release and more. They have facials and makeup lessons for all ages Try the anti-aging treatment, a teen facial for a younger person; facial rejuvenation, a treatment focused on the muscles in the face, that relaxes and stimulates blood flow. I was disappointed with how fast my nail polish chipped after my manicure (it chipped the next day BEFORE the event I got a manicure for). Clean spa with many services., including wedding makeup and hair.

The Yale Center for British Art houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the U K.
The collection of paintings‚ sculpture‚ drawings‚ prints‚ rare books‚ and manuscripts reflects the development of British art‚ life‚ and thought from the Elizabethan period onward. I expected to get bored with stuffy paintings I did not recognize, but that was not the case. This museum offers a mix of formal art and evocative modern works.
The Yale Center offers exhibitions and educational programs‚ including films‚ concerts‚ lectures‚ tours‚ and special events. It is Handicap accessible with a ramp and elevators. There is also a very nice gift shop with items of interest to both kids and adults. There is also a collection of nice art supplies.

Formerly the Cape Codder, Delaney's was transformed into a restaurant and bar. Downstairs has a bar and restaurant/bar area, upstairs is the restaurant.
Impressively the Cape Codder is the number of beers and loggers they have on tap. A well traveled Englishman saw loggers he had not elsewhere in the States. 50 total beers the last I counted. They also at times, let you have a sample or two to test out if its the beer for you.
Few places are open in the area after 10 p.m., so if you are looking for a drink or snack or dessert after a movie or event at one of the local colleges, Delaney's is a great idea. They actually have a great take on classics like a Ham & cheese sandwich. It doesnt state it on the menu, but they use a gourmet meat quality ham, a quality cheese I did not recognize but had a herb in it, and used a thick, homemade bread, not your standard white bread sandwich.
Despite its proxmity to SCSU, it is not just a college crowd.

The look of a club, without actually being a club. A mix of people of all ages, ranging from kids getting gelato, people in their 20's getting a drink, baby boomers getting lunch. Some food offerings:
Bottega makes its own gelato. Also there are salads, stir fry and pizzettes, lobster ravioli and chicken with artichokes.
An unusual twise on "ladies night" - Monday nights the café offers "Manicure or Massage, Martini and a Movie." For $20, you a martini with either a manicure or a massage while watching a movie on a huge screen at the front of the café. Tuesday night is karaoke, and Wednesday is reggae. Thursday is Texas Hold 'em night. Bands play on Friday and Saturday nights.

A very fun Mexican restaurant with a Tex Mex flare. A full range of items and some items for the picky “I don’t like Mexican food” people in your group. There are regular specials on Tuesdays, and Karaoke nights. Popular both with families and with college kids, they have an amazing bar that is separate from where parties can eat.
Thursday and Friday nights attract college students from Quinnipiac University, SCSU, Albertus Magnus, etc., but small parties and groups including Little Leaguers frequent the place during the earlier dinner hours.
Little known secret is they also do catering that extends beyond Mexican and Tex-Mex
