The River Cafe is not the cheapest place to eat in New York by any means, but it is on everyone's short list of places with best view and ambiance. The food is excellent and the service is top-notch as well. Basically, this restaurant has simply the best view of the Brooklyn Bridge of any restaurant in the city. Best time to go is at sunset and reservations are essential. For the budget-minded, come just for drinks at the bar or come during the twice-yearly Restaurant Week promotion.

The Saigon Grill, located in the 90s on the Upper West Side, is a genuine New York bargain. The décor is nothing to get too excited about, but the array of food choices and especially the price is exceptionally good compared to similar restaurants in this area. Portions are large and the food is always fresh. The restaurant, which used to be subject to long queues outside waiting for a table, has recently expanded and now includes a spacious sushi bar.
