They have quality listings and honest agents and have some exclusives in New York's best neighborhoods like TriBeCa and Greenwich Village. Definitely worth a try if you're looking to buy or rent in these areas.

The staff knows the material and authors inside and out and the prices are no more than you would pay anywhere else.

Paragon Sports proves that you do not need to shop at a national chain to find the very best sporting goods. The staff here really know the sports they sell supplies for, and the quality of their products are top drawer. New York's legions of joggers have sworn by Paragon for years, and that loyalty extends to other sports as well.

No visit to New York City would be complete without a visit to the observation deck at the Empire State Building. You can see seemingly forever on clear days, and discern all of New York's landmarks. The admission fee is steep, but worth it. However, don't bother going up on days when the top is in the clouds. The view is the whole show, but when it's on, boy is it on!
Tip: Best times to go to avoid the crowds are early in the morning and late in the evening. The sunsets can be spectacular, but after dark is when it gets really romantic.

The Museum of Sex sounds like a joke, but the punchline is that they take themselves seriously. The truth is, maybe you should take them seriously, too. The exhibits are well researched and actually quite fascinating. The museum staff is educated and very much into the subject matter, both on the job and off, to be blunt. Tip: Look for $5 discount entry coupons in the tabloids.

The Strand bookstore is a bargain bookstore with a glorious past. It's true, you can find terrific bargains here, but you also will probably have to spend a long time sifting through books you aren't interested in before you find one that you are. The organization here is haphazard. Also, there is no air conditioning, which can get downright uncomfortable in the summer. However, if you have the time and the fortitude, the Strand might be for you!

The Travel People is a travel agency that from the inside looks like it belongs in Greenwich Village... which is a good thing because it IS in Greenwich Village. In the storefront are artistically pleasing framed pictures of foreign locales taken by professional photographers. The shop's decor looks like it could be the inside of an apartment in the neighborhood.
I mention all this because it is indicative of the way the agents here really know the neighborhood and the clientele. They know that all trips really start from the moment you start to plan them, and they help create that experience from the beginning.
It's a personal touch that is worth any extra cost of planning a trip through a travel agency in the age of internet travel, and is why The Travel People is a great place to plan and book a trip.

Three Lives & Company is not a large bookstore, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. Every single book that graces its shelves is an engrossing read, hand-picked by the people who work there. The store's employees love books just as much as the customers. Three Lives & Company is a wonderful, special place to buy books.

The Gershwin Hotel is an excellent choice for the budget-minded visitor to New York City. Rooms here can often be had for under $100 and for that you get stylish decor and a winning location just off Fifth Avenue not far from such landmarks as the Empire State Building and the United Nations.
