Bowery Building Supply is located a few blocks off of Houston. They sell all sorts of lumber, tools and other supplies that one would need to remodel or fix up their home. It has wide variety of products and they always have whatever you have a need for at the time because they have a deep stock area. Their prices are very reasonable, to the point that the Home Depot is no longer of any use to me

The major problem with New York University is that it doesn’t have a “campus” per se, because it is so spread out over Greenwich Village, SoHo and the Lower East Side. The company of Swanke Hayden Connell and Associates is a well known and highly respected architectural design firm headquartered in the Puck Building in SoHo. They’ve designed many buildings, including some additions to museums around New York, as well as many projects for the City itself and for private companies. Knowing many of the people that work there personally, I have to say that this company is on the cutting edge of architectural design and would be great to work with.

The Houston Market is a very handy place to have around. It’s open twenty four hours a day and I can always run out here to grab milk or something if I run out in the middle of the night. Though the prices are kinda high, they’re about what other places around here charge. They also have a grill here, so you can get burgers or breakfast made for you if you’re on the run.

The Ghenet Restaurant serves what they call Ethiopian cuisine. I guess I missed the day in college when they taught the other definition of cuisine that meant “bad food”. The food here, and I use the term loosely, is God-awful. I’ll say this though: when Saddam gets convicted, they should sentence him to eating here for the rest of his life.

The Hong Kong Kitchen is your generic Chinese take out place (I can’t ever imagine eating in inside of one, but I digress) and I will judge it as such, since you can’t expect restaurant quality food. The food is better here than in many other local take out Chinese places. I’d say it’s the best in the immediate neighborhood. Also they deliver, which I always a plus.
