One might wonder - when they first read my review title .. well just as it sound .. hot hot momo is what you'll find at everest on grand, a Nepali/tibetan restaurant in the heart of twin cities.
Situated in the intersection of grand avenue and Syndicate street, which is not exactly bustling in the evenings, but not bad for a
quiet night out.
momo is a steamed dumplings of herb accented meats and vegetables. Momo is originally a tibetan food but by the time it reached nepal, it became momocha. Fine daal-bhaat (curry meals served with rice) are filling and come with dessert.

Just make sure you don't get one of the older waitresses. I once waited 15 minutes for her to take my order. The malts are good, and they have a fee-free cash machine inside.

I actually thought this bakery was a mafia front since I never saw anyone go in or out. Well, I was wrong, the truth is that they apparently sell mostly to restaurants, and so, not many customers come to them. Oh, another reason why not many customers go to them is because their bread is mediocre. I like the huge doughnuts, but even they lack real distinction. Plus the place is just a little weird inside. If your regular place is out, stop here.

I love to go to cheapo without any real plan in mind. I just flip through the CDs until something catches my eye. You can listen to the CDs before you buy, and can return if you get buyer's remorse. I recommend trying Cheapo and Applause across the street. You can't get a better value than a used CD. It's also nice to stick it to the man and his 16 dollar new releases. On the other hand, popular titles disappear quickly. Gentlemen, start your searching...

Carbone's is an old St. Paul establishment. It is run from the east side Carbone's which is the one I am reviewing. It is the same at the two I have been to, so try any of them. It is thin crust with tons of awesome cheese on top. The other toppings just add variety. You are really paying for cheese and crust. They are great together. The pizza comes in a paper bag which always get soaked with grease. This is not recommended for people on diets!

This is the pinnacle of the 1950's Italian eatery. The booths haven't changed and neither has the food. The pizza is all I've ever gotten, and my guess is that's what you'll get too. It is loaded with toppings, and the cheese is good too. Thin crust is their thing. The only thing that keeps me from declaring this the best pizza in St. Paul is 1. my love of deep dish and 2. they use canned mushrooms. Still, it is right up there and I would say you need to eat there ASAP if you haven't yet done so. They also have take out.

I love Cossetta's deli area. They have great imported foods from Italy and lots of fresh Italian home made products. Their baked goods area flavorful as are the sausages and cheeses. The assortment of Italian candies is unique and bigger than any other I have found. mm mm Perugina baci... The restaurant section, however, is just OK and is a disappointment to me. It is kind of uninspired and greasy. The pizza is ok, but nothing special. Some of their frozen products are pretty good. Parking is easy with their own lot. Definitely worth a trip!

It is no surprise that the SAP library has the highest circulation of any of the branch libraries. It is one of the Carnegie endowed libraries, and is a beautiful building. It has recently been renovated and had a huge new children's area added on. It has a good sized collection of everything you would expect and a great staff. It's fun to browse in such a great space. Also they have a big book sale each summer where you can buy discards and donated overstock. I always get a bag or two. After checking out a book, grab a pastry from the Scandinavian bakery across the street and read on the peaceful lawn out front.

This is a real treasure for St. Paul. The newly remodeled building is so beautiful and the collection is huge. Stroll around the building in admiration for an hour or so before getting down to books. The ceilings are amazing! The carved stone is overwhelming. They also have almost any magazine you could want and tons of books, CDs, DVDs, Video Tapes, and microfiche etc. They have a great St. Paul room with local documents which is only open certain hours, so check ahead. The only hard thing is parking. You'll probably end up at a ramp for long visits, or try the street for 1 hour blocks.

This is a smaller branch library. It is built inside the Metro State University library. It has a nice children's section, but not a huge adult section. You can get books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, and internet access. Most people I know use it for a pick up from other libraries. The staff is helpful, but there are always tons of kids running around. There is also a homework center for kids and adults to use. It is a good local library and much better than nothing!
