I went here this past Saturday to celebrate my birthday. The decor and atmosphere were awesome. The food was also delicious! The cocktails were strong and great too. It was a fun upscale-type place to go and I had a blast.
The only negative as far as I could see was that the service was extremely slow. Also, some people might take issue with the portions you get for the price; if you're looking for a lot of food, I recommend going somewhere else. The food you do get though is sooo good.

If you'd like a great hairstyle, but don't want to pay a ton, I reccommend Headliners in downtown Tacoma. A husband/wife team own the salon. Husband has been doing hair for 23 years and is great! He keeps himself up to date by taking classes consistently. He's very much into experimenting with color, so if you're looking for a new color, this is the place to go.
Wife does manis and pedis, but only natural nails. She does not do acrylics. For hair they use great-smelling Paul Mitchell products and even have Paul Mitchell instructors come to their salon to give classes. A cool duo, very knowledgeable, and do great work.
Cuts/styles (for women) are $40
Manis $20

Farelli's pizza recently opened up on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and it's great! The pool tables are brand new and on Friday nights the place is hoppin' with after work people. The pizza is delicious! The juke box doesn't have much of a selection, but the drinks are cheap. Happy hour is from 4-7 and then from 9PM to close! I'm not sure if it's promotional because it's kind of new, but take advantage while you can. It's a good atmosphere with a nice mix of people.

Anyway, very professional and knew what she was doing. I wouldn't go there for a cut though unless you want to pay for one of the more experienced stylists.

I love this bank! I definitely feel that credit unions are the way to go. My boyfriend has both WAMU and BofA accounts and he constantly has to pay for ridiculous charges for both. I've never had a fee for anything at WSECU. Everytime I call customer service they're extremely helpful and courteous. The best part is they work with other credit unions so that if you don't have a branch of your particular credit union near you, you can bank at other credit unions such as BECU, Verity, Watermark, etc. There are no ATM fees at other credit union ATMs either (although there are fees at your BofA ATMS). You can join WSECU if you're a state employee or if you go to a state school (UW, WSU).

Tacqueria is the BEST Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in Washington State. Coming from SoCal I was used to real Mexican food and never really found it in Wash. But Tacqueria is it! They use real, fresh ingredients and it’s a family owned restaurant. You can order in Spanish if you’d like. Everything is so good, it’ll remind you of the food in Mexico. Definitely tasty!

If you're in the market for a new pair of glasses/contacts, go to Dr. Simmons in Tukwila. I guarantee you'll probably be laughing the whole time, he's pretty friggin' entertaining. I actually had fun during my exam. They have a great selection of frames, from cheap-o to designer. The prices seem reasonable, a Coach frames were around $148. The only drawback is the hours, you'll have to take time from work to get it all done. Lastly, he's young and cute. Go for it!

I've been to the Blue Olive Bistro in Tacoma once, on a Saturday night. It's down on Dock Street and is one of the nicer martini bar-type places to go in Tacoma. The coconut prawns are excellent and they have a huge selection of martinis to choose from. The night I went it wasn't particularly crowded, which I didn't enjoy. I like there to be a lot of people where I'm going. If you don't, this could be a good place for you.
The food and drinks are pricey, the decor is awesome (they have an ice bar!), the servers are almost exclusively VERY attractive. It's a decent place to go in Tacoma.

If you're into techno and electronic music, two-storey Element is definitely the place to be, especially on Friday nights. They have a special partnership with USC events (United States of Conciousness) that brings the absolute top talent in the world to Seattle on Friday nights. They've had Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Bad Boy Bill, and Deep Dish just to name a few. If you know the big names in electronic music, you know that Element is where you go to see them. In the negative column the place can get really packed when they have big names, it only holds about 1000 people. It can also be incredibly smokey. The drinks are pricey, covers are high, but the people are hot and the bartenders are talented.
