Shubert Performing Arts Center was usually quiet when I walked past there. Most people just used their huge carpark. But local cultural venues need more support. Nowadays they seem to import Broadway shows more frequently, and it is possible to find prices lower than New York’s. I saw the off-Broadway show STOMP there a few years back, and I enjoyed the experience.

Conveniently located next to the Canal Street subway station, This store is a warehouse of all hardware supplies that you can and cannot think of. Its selection definitely beats Kmart’s. You should not be surprised to find items offered at lower than 50% of prices elsewhere.

One of the ladies at this cleaner remembered my face and name after an initial encounter that lasted no more than three minutes. She was not even the one who entered my information into their computer. I was totally impressed! I usually get my suits dry-cleaned for $6.5 each. My only wish is that they have longer hours, but I guess all cleaners in New York close early.

Some apartments listed on their own website are surprisingly cheap, but when you call, you will be told that those deals are gone. Then they will try to get you to look at other places at higher prices. They just want to get you to go to their office.

Although I have not seen any no-fee apartments offered through Citi Habitats (I look for studios for rent), very occasionally they have cheap finds in doorman buildings in good neighborhoods. They charge a broker fee which is standard in New York. What I like is their website is reasonably updated, and I do not think they engage in false advertising.

I do not usually go shopping for clothes there because it takes too much effort to dig through their stock and line up for the fitting rooms. However, I love their quality bedding and bath items offered at amazingly low prices.
