Pocono Whitewater Rafting offers whitewater rafting and kayaking trips on the Lehigh, Hudson, Moose Rivers. The staff is very friendly, but the equipment can be cleaner. You do not get a guide on the boat unless you ask for one in advance. Neither breakfast nor lunch nor after-raft BBQ is included (this may not be true for summer family rafting). The company also offers biking and skirmish paintball.

If you are into pretty things and especially if you are willing to pay for them (or if you just want to get some inspiration for making your own birthday cards), Kate’s Paperie is the place for you. The stores are filled with beautiful cards, wrapping paper, photo albums, blank notebooks and wedding stationery that Hallmark’s collections cannot compare with. Its creative services unit also provides customized business solutions, gift wrap and printing services.

This shoe store, with an interesting name and a few locations in the City, has been recognized as one of New Yorkers’ favorite shoe shops. It offers a large selection of high end shoes for men and women. In between sales, prices at Otto Tootsi Plohound may be a little deterring, but duing sale times, the discounts can be quite impressive.

I would say Le Pere Pinard is mediocre at best. I asked for medium rare for my hanger steak, and it came out to be overly done. The restaurant is so loud that you can barely make a conversation with your friends. The service is not that great either. I am sure there are better options on the Lower East Side.

Ping’s is one of the best dim sum places in Manhattan in my opinion. Or perhaps this is just in comparison to many other restaurants that are sub par. Their pastries made with sweet pork are yum. My friends and I usually only pay 8 bucks each after getting stuffed. It is also not a bad choice for Chinese dinner.

Alice’s Tea Cup is an extremely cute place for high tea for the common people. You can select from probably over a hundred types of tea. The waitresses are friendly and able to give advice on the abundant selections of tea (good memory is probably a requirement for the job). Prices can run a little high, but the scones are cheap but out of the world.

Café Lalo has become ever so popular since You’ve Got Mail. Always expect a wait. The café is so noisy that you have to shout across a two-person table to talk. It is a cute place inside and outside for delicious desserts and coffee, but there is nothing much else that is offered. Service is fine. Opens till late.

The food is not bad but a little overpriced. I like their Gambas Ajo Blanco (Shrimp sauteed with scallions over a garlic almond puree), but the much expected seafood paella is too salty. Service is good, but it seems like they do not turn on the AC in the summer unless they reach a certain number of customers.

OK it is not the perfect atmosphere: The place looks like a diner; the tables are very close to each other; and the waiters are too busy to check on you. But, hey, the food is good and inexpensive! And it is French food! Expect a wait on the weekends. One big final plus is that Florent opens around the clock.

The good thing about Malaysian food is that you can get a variety of choices from Southeast Asian, Chinese, and Indian cuisines. I am particularly fond of Sarang Burung (formed taro filled with seafood and vegetables, as well as topped with cashew nuts). Malaysia Grill offers very low prices and more food than you can finish. The only problem with their dishes is that there could be too much grease.
