I'm always hesitant when trying out new sushi restaurants but I had a 2 hours wait before my movie started at the Kips Bay movie theater one block away so I thought why not. At first glance it looks like any sushi restaurant with simple wood tables and decorations. I was seated within seconds of entering the restaurant and menus, water within seconds of being seated. QUICK SERVICE. It wasn't hard deciding what to order because everything was pretty cheap. They have lunch and dinner sushi box specials for around $10, 9 pieces of sushi, 9 pieces of sashimi, california roll, miso soup, salad, bowl of rice, fuzzy beans. What a steal! the fish was fresh, and if you're in the mood their sake isn't too bad either! Also, they give out japanese gum balls with every check... a asian secret if you ask me!

If you're trying to find this place...you can't miss the huge ad painted on the side of the building coming off the Manhattan bridge marks the spot. This restaurant is also very old school, cash only and expect to spend about $60 per person with appetizers, $80+ with drinks. My favorite is the dry-aged porterhouse steak. These come out sizzlin on a HOT plate drenched in butter. The aromas are amazing and it will probably be one of the most tender meats you'll ever taste, these literally just melt in your mouth! Cream of spinach, tomato and onions also make a good side dish. But you'll need to make reservations at least 2 months in advance, prepare for a wait even after you make reservations this place is packed!

You have probably heard that Europeans love eating fries with mayonaise and got totally disgusted by just the thought of it. But one taste of Pommes Frites and you'll fall in love instantly. It's a very small place and it might be difficult to find the first time in the area but you'll feel at home once you're inside. Inside there's about 30-40 different flavored mayonaise for you to choose from. Don't get me wrong, these dipping sauces do NOT taste like mayo... an example is their war sauce... half mayo, freshly chopped onions, peanut satay sauce. DELICIOUS. go and try it out before or after you hit the bars... they're open to 3am on the weekends!
