This is a great place to workout! This is a ladies only gym, with supportive incredibly nice staff. They have a calendar jammed full of different classes with at least one that can meet even the busiest person's schedule. Throughout the years they have great incentives to join, and students get a nice discount. They have tanning and child care as well as massage and personal training. Located conveniently on airport rd. in Chapel Hill this is the place to go and keep yourself in shape!

Barnes is a rarity nowadays. It is an all-purpose garden supply and hardware store with a full stock of pet and livestock supplies (cats and dogs and chickens to name a few). They rent equipment, sell all kinds of gardening supplies from fresh flowers to bulbs to fertilizers adn dirt, and even sell pet vaccinations for those brave do-it-yourselfers. They are a local mainstay with deep family history in the area.

The store is fairly big so you need to take some time to really look through the selection and get the great finds!

There is often confusion between One World Market (the independent store) and World Market (the big corporation). One World Market's whole premise is selling items made by people in third world countries. These are absolutely gorgeous pieces of craftsmanship and you know your money is not only going to a good cause, but helping it as well. The majority of the staff are volunteers, who make your shopping experience wonderful. They are always cheerful and happy to be offering thier time to the cause.

Weaver street is a co-op so if you have the time to put in a few hours every week, it is worth it. If not, then it is a bit pricey. They have lots of grocery items from local farmers, which is really nice because while Wellspring used to do that, Whole Foods doesn't carry as many local farm products. Weaver St. also has some really nice outdoor space with concerts and other gatherings.

Fosters is a great place to come, relax and enjoy some outside time. It is a market/deli/bakery that has great outdoor seating. It isn't too big, so don't expect to come do a week's worth of shopping, but it has some nice local stuff as well as delicious sandwiches and baked goods. This one is more grocery oriented than the one in Chapel Hill, which is eat-in oriented. A really great place for some small food gifts as well.

Not being a huge city, Durham doesn't have that many gourmet groceries. Pretty much you have Whole Foods. Fowler's isn't big, but it carries a nice selection of foods and wines. It is gourmet so expect gourmet prices, but when you need to use those hard to find ingredients this is the place to go. They also have lots of space to sit and eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. They also have a fairly impressive selection of lesser known beers.

It took me awhile to keep these two straight. Papa's is Greek (I wrote a review) and Pop's is more American. Pop's is very fancy in the evening, not really a great place for kids. It is contemporary and delicious. It is located in Brightleaf Sqaure in Durham so you can make a really nice evening out of going to dinner at Pop's, and then strolling around the newly rennovated Brightleaf. Especially lovely in the fall.

There are numerous Greek resteraunts in the area, but I haven't found any of them to be as delicious and true to Greek food as Papas. It is elegant dining with a cozy family feeling. A little pricey, but not an unbelievably expensive night out. There is something for everyone. They are tucked away off hillandale road so they're a little hard to find, but definitely worth it.

A lovely french bistro with a fairly inexpensive wine selection. Also, on the weekends they have live music out in their beautiful outdoor eating. You can go for a full meal or just sip some wine, enjoy some delicious food, and relax outdoors.
