This doughnut shop is dangerously good and dangerously close to where I work. There are so many doughnuts to choose from, I feel like a little kid when I go in there. They have all the classics: Old-fashioned, apple fritters, maple bars and chocolate with cream filling. The architecture is great and the atmosphere is open and refreshing. Grab a dozen or so for the office. It is a great place to come before or after going to the Cinerama down the street.

I visited this café for lunch after reading a review in the paper. I was excited to have a place to eat near Westwood Village which is the closet shopping area to my house. I was quite pleased with my hot turkey sandwich and would definitely get that menu item again. I expected the cookies and desserts to be more plentiful, but they look good nonetheless. My only complaint is the atmosphere/decor. I would work on getting cuter or funkier looking tables and chairs - the current look is very boring.

I could spend hours in this store and I am an adult. Any age would have fun in this place. I found many of the toys I enjoyed as a child. There are crafts, puzzles, kites, stuffed animals, educational toys, marbles and on and on. We had a lot of fun doing our stocking shopping here one year. The staff is very nice and mellow. Parking is easy.

I cannot say enough good things about The Paper Zone. They have such a huge selection of paper and envelopes that your only problem will be deciding on the color! The papers are high quality and many are very unique. They are also a bargain compared to stamp stores. When we got married, we went there to get paper for the invitations. When we had a baby, we went there to get paper for the announcements. For our first wedding anniversary (the paper anniversary) my spouse gave me a gift certificate to The Paper Zone. I also buy great tissue paper, ribbon, packaging supplies, stamps, pens and anything else I need there. I also enjoy going to the store in SODO for its spaciousness.

I would recommend this kids salon for toddlers, children and teenagers, but not for babies. Most babies don't have as much hair as our 6 month old did when we visited the salon, so this review would not be relevant to those people.
The salon is very cute with airplanes, trains and cars to sit in. There is also a teenage side of the salon (The Edge) with a much darker look to it. Our baby wasn't old enough to sit up in one of the cute seats, so he sat on my lap in a chair on the teenage side of the salon. There was loud music playing on this side.
The Haircut: Instead of just spraying water to wet his hair, the stylist sprayed tonic spray, which smelled mediciny and made my baby begin to cry. Next, she combed and combed through his hair without being careful of his cradle cap, so he kept on crying. Next, she texturized his hair. Why does a baby need texturizing? As a result, his hair wasn't as baby soft anymore. Finally, they give you a lock of hair for the first haircut which is a nice idea, except it just looks like a bunch of little scraps picked up off the floor rather than a nice lock of hair to keep in the baby book.

I went here a couple of months before my wedding to get the "state-of-the-art" whitening done. After paying $600, I was pleased with the results.... for only two days. Over the next week or so, the bright white started disappearing in spots, giving my teeth a spotty look, lasting for a few weeks. Fortunately, the spotty look disappeared by the time I got married. Unfortunately, my teeth were back to the way they looked before getting the whitening done. I can only guess that they must have missed some essential part of the whitening process. However, after some initial resistance, they refunded me the full amount.

This is a wonderful little stamp shop. They have lots of sample cards around which provide great ideas. The little stamping/card accessories are unique and I don't usually see them at other stores. Part of the charm of this shop is that it is small, but if you are serious about stamping and really want a bigger selection of stamps and paper, I would head elsewhere.

It feels great just walking into this yarn shop. The yarns are displayed beautifully in this old house on the top of Queen Anne. They have wonderful samples on display which is very inspiring. I took beginning knitting here and had a great instructor named Susan. The yarns are pricey, but they are at all yarn shops. When you take a class, you get a discount in the store. Although the location is not terribly convenient for those not living on Queen Anne, the shop is a couple of blocks south of the main shopping area, so parking is not a problem at all.

When I lived in Greenwood, I would walk to this beauty school for quick trims and waxes. I did not go there if I needed a major haircut or wanted a style change. It may have turned out fine if I had, but I prefer to be cautious. Sometimes a student will take a great deal of time with just a trim, but they are learning, so this is to be expected. It is hard to beat a $10 haircut. The waxing prices aren't as big of a bargain, but they do a great job and use the Aveda waxes.

I always seem to have a lot of success finding a gift here. Sometimes it is the first place I go - whether looking for a housewarming, birthday or baby gift. The baby items are a little pricey, but they are super cute and unique. They have a lot of handmade jewelry to choose from, although it seems to get more and more expensive each time I go in. It is a fun place to wander around even if you aren't planning on buying anything. I highly recommend a visit to this store.
